Better Days

Better Days

A Poem by Victor Warui
"

We need a time machine. Like ASAP!!!

"
At birth I cried buckets to brim
For hunger, attention and care
Nothing compares to that scream
At night, sleep to them was rare

I still remember the day I fell
They clapped 'n said 'try again'
I stood, knees faltering like hell
Each step frail but didn't refrain

Worst of the days came ultimatum
No cookies for days and a night
Until I spend a day with the madam
Who was scary 'till I learnt to write

Those were beautiful green days
Worth turning back time to relive
Now I'm stuck on loop anyways
Same thing each day like a weave

I don't even know when it ever ends
To a better day of merry and rest
They say with age life always sends
Everyone high above clouds' crest

I just hope I'll love that place though
Maybe I will finally cry for attention
To those I'll meet 'n wrap me in shawl
Like ago, before this adult detention
