Bow to the king

Bow to the king

A Poem by Deadline Jeffrey

Here I bow before you,
To offer my services and whatever you need,
For I will bow to you for now,
Until I can steal your crown.

For too long I've served,
And for too long have I suffered,
While you sat in your tower,
Watching the pain and anguish
Day after day,
Year after year,
The sweat of my brow,
The blood from my tears.

It is time for change,
An era new,
Of saints and sinners,
Wealthy and poor,
To bow to a new king,
For he will be better than the last,
Equality all around,
For none shall be too high and mighty
For how the mighty fall,
When they are forced to take a knee,
And told to look at their ruler.

With a hand on their shoulder,
He brings his head close.
The warmth from his breath on their ears,
"You will bow, bow, to your king."

And the crown he shall wear,
Until the next that kneels,
Offers their services, and whatever I need,
For I wear the crown.

For Now.
