Death of a Neighbor

Death of a Neighbor

A Poem by V. Wayne
"

Thoughts on hearing of the death of a neighbor.

"
A woman died yesterday
Found alone in her room
Age and poor health combined
Resulted in her demise
The parking lot full of police
Resuscitation impossible
Every journey ends alone
Knife edged bitterness
That realization
Only two doors down
Have I ever seen her
Ever talked to her in passing
Always keeping to myself
Very much a loner
Escaping complications
Nowhere to hide when death calls
Seeking interaction
Or human connection
Loneliness to be kept at bay
Obvious the transience of life

Gee
We're all far to wrapped up in our own little bubbles, not uncaring persist but to busy in our own minds to take time to care

I think a lot of people can relate to the speaker in this poem. How many people do we just pass by every day without saying hello or interacting with them?
