All in the PastA Poem by Peter ThomasAbout how what we do never goes away, and that our history defines us and to forget our history, will ultimately lead us to fade awayIt’s all in the past Sure if that what you believe We’ll see who gets the last laugh I’ve done many countless things So many things you won’t believe You just can’t sit right there and tell
me Try and tell me once again Don’t worry about it please Because it’s all in the past Life does not forget So neither will I Every action has a reaction That stuff won’t go away Everything that you have done Eventually you will have to pay Life won’t let you get away So if you try and lie it gone Let me sing you a song Never will you last Don’t you see nothings in the past Scores and Scores many years may pass Some of them for us each one could be
our last For everything we win even if we lose A mark upon our soul Everything will leave a hole To show us what we’ve done No matter right and wrong I always hear people say “I don’t care much for that final score” “I just like to live present right here
and now” You can live like that, many do it seems Just remember that you will have to
concede What you are and what you will be built
upon the previous facts Every debtor has a beginning every
winner has a future Now its time for me and you to settle
out this feature I told you once that I wouldn’t forget I made a mark on my soul and yours Forget the past is all very well and
nice To live right now and live like mice But there’s one small detail you should
have remembered Every day could be your last That’s why I never forget the past © 2010 Peter ThomasAuthor's Note
