UNDERSTAND?

UNDERSTAND?

A Poem by Vol

When I die, please don’t say,

He passed…” I did not pass,

I DIED! I kicked the bucket,

bought the farm, bit the dust,

checked out, left the room,

I’m pushing up daisies.

We are all schizophrenic

in a sense, we are mortal

and we are eternal. Mortality

is made of flesh, bones, blood,

and water, destined to fall

to pieces, Eternal is made

of spirit, consciousness, and

what we call our soul, destined

to carry on...

But, I digress, my mortal coil

will spring loose and fly

away… FLY AWAY!

Oh glory, I’ll fly away!

You can pass all you want,

like a kidney stone, or

even out, you sissies,

BUT YOU WILL STILL

BE DEAD!

As for me, I like Mark Twain’s

idea, I do not fear death.

I had been dead for billions

and billions of years before

I was born, and had not

suffered the slightest

inconvenience from it.”

I say. In Heaven as it is

on Earth.”

When you are hungry, all you

see are restaurants, when you

are old your thoughts turn to

ground, to dirt, to ashes, and

what it means. In the beginning,

was the Word. whenever that

was, and the Word was God-

Our-Conscious-Universe, my

conscious mind, and it

passes all understanding.

Well first off i would like to say something deep and meaningful, but will mess it up instantly by saying that i go with the Scandinavian's way of thinking that can be simplified by this...
Someone asks you if you remember before you were born, you reply no and there you have it, death in a nutshell!
Death to me is something that should end with everyone remembering something funny about you and making them smile once more, to which i would like my final thoughts to be that i done not too bad, despite the lack of experience in that thing called life.
If i werent going for the crispy option (cremation) then i would like to borrow my words from tge great Billy Connolly "here lies Lorry, too old to die young!"
I reckon that life is easy. If people remember you with a smile, then you get a pass mark and that's all anyone can really hope for i suppose. Well, that and your death certificate reading...Cause of death... drug fuelled sex heart attack! 😀

This is aggressive. I love it.
I liked how you connected hunger with aging at the end. But I think people's need to "pass" is part of the grieving process. It's a way of saying, "He's not gone and he can be with us later"
We are afraid of the word death, I like your brave attitude here.
but everyone's process of experiencing grief is different.
When my father died; my aunt said that the reason she talks with me was because she sees her brother in me. I was afraid of this because she was treating me like her dead brother (my father). Treating a living person like a dead person. Afterwards, she told me that she constantly talked to the dead people she lost, and I am someone who cannot even pray at their graves. It is easier for me to accept that they are gone, not for her. It is debatable whether it is healthy or not. But her process.

I admired your attitude and honesty. powerful.

Oh, Baby, you were not ashes the other night! You were fire! And broiling lava! And seething, lightning wisps of fiery trails! That's the night I wrote My Volcano!

THAT's how I want to go! Until I am no longer able to imagine and pretend and turn fantasies into dreams for my lovers, whomever and wherever they may be!

Keep a good conversation with God. Jesus talked to the Father for hours while the disciples were lookouts. WE don't have to do that. I talk to the Lord in my mind "constantly." Asking for forgiveness constantly because I am HUMAN, even a thought can be a sin! God knows that. He made us!

"Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night". . . Good thought provoking piece, though, as always, Darling.
