![]() UNINSPIREDA Poem by VolOn the other side of the patio are the flowers she planted in the terraces; Spiderwort, Black Eyed Susans, and Dianthus nod their heads in the breeze and form a carpet around the feeders I built for the birds last year. The Cardinals and Chickadees fly in and out of the Russian Olives at the top of the ridge, while Samson, our stray yellow tabby, keeps them on their toes. In here, the news is on, talking heads explain that, like it or not, my world has changed, but not for the better. If that’s not enough, we thought she was off today, could sleep in, play around, work in the garden. The phone changed that, so she is running around, making impatient noises, getting dressed, packing a lunch, the whole makeup thing, and worrying about traffic between here and work. I turn and walk to the fat leather chair at my desk to think of something to write about. © 2025 VolFeatured Review
