Beautiful poetry Vol. I saw a photograph here. The title is such a lovely title exuding warmth and yet the final lines tell me there isn’t alot of summer here. There is winter cold. Whether that is the pain of death, I am unsure, but I did feel a deep loss in your poem. All the best.

Chris,
Your's too?... My favorite love poem is La Belle Dame Sans Merci by Keats
The thing about it is, Volcano, you are such an excellent writer, your choice of words leave the average person like me oftentimes grasping for their own definitions.
Like I told Sam, I tend to think too much about what I read. He said, "It's cool." (in so many words)
I think I'll just enjoy the poesy and stop defining everything. Thanks Vol, you are awesome!

A beautiful poem about beauty! My favorite line: the way you still pleasure a mirror every time you give a sideways glance passing by……That brought her alive for me. Your ending is very unusual and gave me much food for thought, this woman’s eyes a singularity. Does therein lie a black hole? Are you unable to escape her gravitational pull? Do her eyes lead to destruction?
What inspired the title?

The title was kind of inspired by Zora nell Hurston's very passionate description of a pear tree... A singularity is the edge of TIME that occurs in the gravity of a black hole, where it no longer works...
It takes a rather intense love to blank out all the rest of the universe.

Sometimes beauty is merely superficial and what lie beneath is pain or ice.

Beauty IS in tge eye of the beholder abd is best served over a lifetime of watching and being with the person, so you can fully appreciate their beauty, rather than being the beautiful person who only sees her flaws and can never fully appreciate the significance she brings to your life, just by being herself with you.
Nicely captured Vol.

I don't understand what singularity means.
"The perfect symmetry and confidence
of eyes and nose and lips, and the
way the ivory of your shoulder
invites caress despite the ice in
your eyes is my private singularity."

This is special poesy is directed to someone the author loves very much but feels a great need to avoid conversation due to the physical affliction the author knows completes the life of that person.
The beauty of this person is so extraordinary so much as to pleasure a mirror! Wonderful emotions here! This author is deeply in love with this subject and yearns to melt the ice in their eyes. So beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing, Vol.

I am quite an old man, and in my many years and many loves, some of them deep to the bone, some a face in a passing car, there is something about
the particular beauty of women as opposed to a mountain vista, or a great painting that is also fleeting, and therefore to be captured and appreciated at every opportunity. And, I think there is something else in my thoughts about all the beautiful women I've met none of whome really know how beautiful they are.

Oh, yes you are a poet... This site has more than most and fewer wannabes, Do not deny your talent and skill with words, a lot of folks on here have neither, but your tight insights into what it means to be human are your gift to the rest of us...
People want to make poetry into some kind of high-falooting words of the weird and obtuse imagery, when it is the simplilist of the arts. It is the one which is supposed to be closest to the people but which has been stolen by academia (and they do not even know that post-modernism is dead)... Okay, sorry, somebody plucked a short-hair...
Don't kid yourself, I really get upset that people who do not know how good they are sometimes abandon their greatest gift, and yours is awesome! Go read some Dorothy Parker!
