THIRD DEGREE BURNS

THIRD DEGREE BURNS

A Poem by Vol

When your smile

flashes and burns

across my cheek,

I drown in flames.

Immolation

is not fun,

but an earnest

third degree suicide

dressed in red and yellow,

the afterglow lingering

behind the lids of eyes

squeezed tight against

the onslaught.

I am a moth

drawn to the flickering

of our gasoline lives

poured out,

mingled.

Most don’t fine this at all. I have found two, only two, in my lifetime that have drawn me in like this. Both at times in my lifetime when I deeply needed it.

I personally believe we have more than one twin flame but we are lucky if we met one. Never thought I’d find someone that affect me like my ex Jesse. Didn’t think it was possible. There is one that comes strangely close and familiar to that feeling.

It’s like that old saying play with fire and you’ll get your fingers burnt. How some relationships are doomed from the start but the excitement puts every fibre of logic on the back burner as you’re drawn to her sexual attraction.

Aren't we all just moths flickering towards the light of love that will burn us all?
Immolation is such a great word, until it happens to you I guess and if the moth ever rested for a moment and thought "Why if I'm Nocturnal am I attracted to light and look a bit like a goth butterfly, don't I just get up during the day and stop burning myself on every bloody bulb?"
Because Mr moth, we are all gluttons for punishment.if you disagree, explain the president then!
