TUMBLED

TUMBLED

A Poem by Vol

The shadows of the weeping

willow we planted at the back

of the garden are a green pool

of cool air, moist and sweet.

Even in the hottest summer, moss

grows on the fieldstone steps to

the pond and Phaedra, our smokey

Persian hides under the hosta and

azaleas to lament the coming

flow of a brutal Arctic River.

Out of the corner of my eye

a silent flower detaches from

its stem and tumbles through

the dappled shade like a tear.

I've always wondered if weeping willows actually weep, so thanks for clearing that up and it is now set in concrete in my mind and no green fingers authority shall ever shift it!
Now watch that tear doesn't freeze on your face Vol, with that brutal Arctic River on its way.
Trust me I know. I was brought up in Scotland and to the left of Scotland is the North sea. Now turn right at the north sea and that's the Arctic bloody ocean!
Yes, thar north sea that Billy connolly talks about Mothers stripping their kids and throwing them in to swim, calling the big bloody Jessy's if they complain!
And boy did we complain, especially when the first time a wave kissed the underside of our scrotum! We let out a yell that only dolphins could hear! 😃

You need an operation just to coax it from coming back outta you! 😃
The weeping willow planted by both of you in times gone by, forever a memory. That single flower tumbling like a tear, I found most poignant. The feeling that she is still with you. This piece is a touching and image laden delight. Thank you Vol.
