You write so well Vol. Loved it, the idealism, the belief, the romance of it all. I’m more swayed by science,we've come a long away from the days of superstition, the power of the Church, etc burning women labelled as witches. But here we are still fighting wars with religion pitted against religion. If only they would let go of these false promises and embrace the fact we are all here so let’s live in peace together. See you’ve had me ramble on with this fine write to stew on.

I have been a hardcore believer my whole life, but a harsh critic of 1. The abysmal performance of the church going all the way back to day one. The gospel is NOT as they have presented. Is no room for guilt and shame in the “abundant life” offered by Christ. 2. People who never give a true, in depth look at the Gospel itself. Anyone serious about things spiritual, but who has not STUDIED the Bible, has no right to a hearing concerning their opinion. Those who have studied, and come away unconvinced, certainly have a voice I want to hear.
The problem is that, like so many other current issues, everyone is all bound up in their emotions and refuse any attempt at logic. Logic says if God is an old dude on a fancy chair with a clipboard and pen checking off a list of gotchas, then, even if real, who cares?
The universe as a conscious entity (God), with an awareness of the smallest nano to the greatest galaxies, aware of the Earth, aware of ME, aware of my emotional, mental, and spiritual state is the only God there even COULD be called by that title. We are finding out that there is a growing body of evidence that ALL living things are imbued with a measure of consciousness, the natural response of the created to a creator. Just works for me. The practical, spiritual nuances of how all that might work is beyond human comprehension, so not my worry.

God is different things to different people. Everyone has their own image of him/her, but of course, we know that God is neither a him or a her but pure energy, the same as the spirit within our body is made of. The consciousness of the universe is rising as people are becoming more aware, but there is a very long way to go yet before we are fully conscious, only then will our world change to become Paradise on earth. I like this thought provoking write very much, Vol. Very finely inked and very well expressed. I enjoyed reading very much and I, thank you for sharing... Lovely work, dear poet...

I don't think any of us have the wherewithal to "understand" the nature or existence of "God" called "him" in English as a matter of linguistic convenience as opposed to prejudice. There are only two choices, either there is a creator god or there isn't. If not, then nothing we think or say matters more than we ourselves matter. If there is, who are we to speculate concerning anything about 'him?' If however our consciousness is a part of his consciousness, then it would seem to be our onus to find meaning in that.

Agree 100% with what you say, dear poet. Thank you for sharing with me...
I lost a loved one, which thew me into a nightmare of soul-searching. I now can't escape the notion that we are pieces of God; He puts us here then takes us back into the Whole-ness, into the One-ness of it all, with the ant and the rock and the far-away star.

I am blessed with a great deal of solitude these days, and time to think about God, Life, Death, Consciousness, and Time. It is my belief that when we die we enter the realm of non-linear time... unfortunately, I have no idea what that would look like. There are several reverences to the concept in the Bible.
A thousand years is as a day
2 Timothy 1:9 mentions God's purpose and grace "given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time."
1 Peter 1:20 refers to Christ as "foreknown before the foundation of the world."
Jeremiah 1:5 records God telling Jeremiah: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart."
AND, the words that got Jesus crucified, "Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."
What an incredibly advanced concept from 2000 years ago!

Thank you so much for the Bible references and this web blurb - there is so much to know!
"It is a thing
that knows there is more
than matter in the universe,
a conscious everything whose
strings hold it all together."
No truer words have been spoken, Vol. I was deeply moved by your closing verse. It speaks volumes in a world that needs to listen.

Hey! So nice to hear from you! My spiritual universe is dominated by the Christian Gospel, though my interpretation of the particulars would have gotten me burned at the stake in previous epochs. I am not sure if anyone really understands the true nature of "The God of the Universe."
BTW... My real facebook name is Vol Lindsey... the R Vol is one I am trying to close.
