THE BEAT

THE BEAT

A Poem by Vol

I heard the news today…

George Harrison expects

to die, just like all the rest.

My sweet lord.

I laid down by the water

and watched the stream roll by

a clear flow babbling the news,

splashing over those dark

green rocks, moss waving

in the rills sparkling

enlightenment of nothing

in particular.

So what else is new?

I ask.

And the water laughed.

I try to avoid writing about subjects that date themselves... and this is from about a quarter century ago, and seemed relevant at the time. I always liked George the best of them, though. I was not a big fan of The Beatles, but they were watershed important...

Good use of personification in this tribute poem to George Harrison, now in Spirit. George was always very popular but not as popular as John or Paul. A very descriptive write. I love the idea of the water laughing. It was very wise water! Nice work! Thank you for sharing, Vol...

George was always very religious so I'm sure he's in a better place, perhaps still playing a sitar. Isn't it a pity the good die young. But look at the songs he left behind and his legacy.
