SUCCULENT

SUCCULENT

A Poem by Vol

On the other side of this wall,

cold waits with teeth bared

and a sneer while I can do

nothing to hold it at bay.

Erato sleeps with back turned

while I call her name.

The air out there is filled

with fat snow doing is best

to cover the warm ground.

From my resting place, the

steamy chocolate and Earth

tones on this side of the glass

are sweet succor while I smile

to see that there are limbs with

soft, white curves that remind

me of the way your cheek flows

round to your lips where I

have bent my ear to hear

you speak defiant fire.
