SHROUD

SHROUD

A Poem by Vol

The evening fog is a quiet tomb

softening a half-remembered tree

and the gray shadow of that rock

where we’d sometimes rest,

as I am resting now

inside this ashen shroud

listening for a lonely blues guitar

to sing a song of you.

Thing with memories is that they are usually much better than the actual time event, well I think so.
A couple of times in my youth I revisited relationships that had floundered, mainly due to my drinking and flirting, thinking only of the good times we'd had together and never the rows. Of course these crashed spectacularly as past events constantly thrown in my poor little mush shattering all of my rose tinted memories.
Guess I got what was coming:))
Hope you are well Vol, great piece

Gee,
All of my memories are just romanticized versions of reality...

Fog is still , and one's eyes feel blurry but in a way it is beautiful and calm... and sets one in a certain mood...so a little guitar music may bring back some pleasant memories of one's lover of romantic times...moments of past sentimental times....lovely write

Ah, yes, if only our lives were like movies, complete with instrumental accompaniment.
...mine would be Ghost Riders in the Sky :)

The fog makes for a solemn scene, the hint of blues guitar amplifies the feeling.
This is nice piece. I feel like I've lived it

A wonderful poem for a memory. I have wandered to special places. Chasing old faces and memories. I liked the honest thoughts and honest ending. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

WW,
Thank you! High praise indeed!
Sitting in a favorite spot that you once shared with someone who mattered greatly to you, is a magical thing. It can create reflection and memories that make you laugh or even sigh.

It can be a place of reflection and once of peace but it can also bring a little sadness and sorrow as well.

You have a way of painting these perfect scene of nature with your words and it allows me to picture it within my mind clearly on how my brain receives it.

The art of making memory can be made better in the second half from lessons learned from the first. Time goes quicker over the hIll but the spectrum of color we paint our memory with gets deeper... hopefully, until eventually... no more color is necessary.
