HAUNTED

HAUNTED

A Poem by Vol

Someone once said

Nothing is so distant

as one minute ago.”

Like a perfect face

glimpsed in a crowd with

eyes so green, and lips

so red, they start a fire,

but when you look again

she has disappeared so

all that’s left is her image

branded on the back of

your eyelids forever,

her absence as powerful

in some twisted way as

the ghost of a hero when

surprised to find itself

suddenly liberated by a

knife.

We are all aware of these passing minutes, but after having lived them live in the now, they change into these perfections that we glimpsed, mainly because there is no way to go back and authenticate them.
My my, those minute agos, just keep on coming and confusing the hell out of me.
Maybe if we had longer than a minute we could properly analyse the situation and come to a solid conclusion on the matter, but we don't, which is what I use as my excuse to only finding almost perfect seconds! 😊

Wow this is powerful I had to read it twice.. it's a good reminder to enjoy every moment as life passes us too quickly. Especially the strangers who amaze us. I try to soak up the moment.

Interesting and intelligent write. A little confusing to have two poems with the same title but so totally different. Like different chapters in a sensual novel. Again a tremendously atmospheric write.

Well, as I often say, "The image IS the message!"

wowww, this is amazing. makes you think. the sensual mention of green eyes and red lips, and then finishing it with the ghost of a hero and a knife. short but intense, and so romantic but nostalgic at the same time... there's so much beauty in the melancholy you describe. congrats, Vol, this is very good :)
