BACK TO GROUND

BACK TO GROUND

A Poem by Vol

I have said before:

"my brain has a mind

of its own," and I had

no reason to lie.

But there you were

with all that mass

confusion pressed

into my chest

so I could hear for

myself the drum

of your walk.

There you were

with a sunshine smile

and spotlight eyes to

look right through me,

holding judgment

in your fist,

not saying a word.

I’ve waited a long time

for the dust to settle

into the gyre where

your memory hangs

these days with the

flowers that are the

ashes you left behind

to give me one last

touch for old times sake.

Ah, those memories that just keep on going. Sometimes it's good to look back on the memories, without all the hassles of being together to get in the way. Rough edges are smoothed into oblivion and faults are erased they never even existed.
I think some of my best relationships were imagined what could've beens 😊
They always smile and say just the right thing, never point out my flaws and yes, I know I have them in real life, but why bother with that when the what if imagination land is always here or thereabouts.😊
My brain has a mind of its own too, but fortunately it only gets in the way when I visit reallife ™ 😊
