DON'T BLINKA Poem by VolEveryone talks about the road, the path, the river, and the journey, as though it is a thing, whole and complete. They are wrong... from John Bunyan, Chaucer, and Mark Twain, all the way to Kerouac or Tolkien. It’s not the road, it’s the surprise around the bend, it's that sound from those shadows under the trees and it's her siren voice you can never unhear. Red lips on an ivory face make me drift with the wind, eyes searching, closed to hear the memory of her song. I've walked until my legs rebel, my feet bloody, the alternate universe in every drop of water does nothing to quench my thirst. I've passed as a ghost through this sparkling infinity like Macbeth
