CRAZY

CRAZY

A Poem by Vol

CRAZY

There is a neurosurgeon who’s

been digging around down there,

deep beneath the cerebral cortex.

He’s been finding all sorts of stuff.

Like the cells where Parkinson’s has

the shakes, and Alzheimer termites

have eaten the infrastructure.

It’s all there, in the wiring.

Insert some electrodes

turn the dial, and damn!

Those things get fixed.

Right now.

But what scares me crazy is, they

can also know exactly who I am.

Open the closet where happiness

hides,my bedroom of avarice, those

drawers of drive, and empathy.

What scares me crazy is they

might get their hands on all the

posts and beams of how I think.

There are switches to ramp up

cognition and judgement!

What a fool I’ve been to think

my wisdom came from experience;

what I know from thought and study.

What a fool I’ve been to think

anything has meaning,

or purpose.

What a fool I’ve been to…

think.

Deeper yet, behind the curtain,

electromagnets set in just the right

place reveal the holy of holies where

God lives. When they turn that one on,

He shows up, and wants to talk.
