COMFORT FOOD


Remember

that weekend at the lake?

A dim room in the cottage

a rough wooden table

a crockery bowl,

cracked…

The scent of logs burning,

draft Guinness, a thick stew...


Your eyes across the table

on mine, tearing the crust

off a chunk of crusty bread

with your teeth.

Hot cherry pie for

dessert.
