BLAME STARBUCKS

An article on the internet says

a recent review of roughly 100 studies

notes that while caffeine enhances

physical, cognitive and motor performance

boosts short-term memory, problem solving,

decision making and concentration,

it eliminates a key portion of the creative process.

Caffeine gives a coffee drinker pinpoint focus,

but it doesn't allow the mind to wander.

And a recent study showed losing focus

helps inspire creative solutions.

It impedes the ability to go into deep sleep,

which diminishes emotional intelligence,

constructive thinking and the ability

to cope with stress, it blunts the ability

to solve problems and draw connections

between unassociated information.

Hold on a minute while I refill my cup

and think of where I want to go with

the rest of this poem…

sip, ahhh! Roll my eyes a little…

Hmmm… hmmmm...

Nope, It ain’t happening…

Hahaha and I was all ready to give up my coffee there for a minute...NOT. Ronnie Van Zant wrote the line, "I drink enough whiskey to float a battleship around" If you replace "whiskey" with coffee I could resemble that remark. But "Starbucks"? Only a bonafide nut would pay that much for a single cup of coffee or maybe a millionaire. I'm not a millionaire. The debate is still out on the other assessment. (smile) I really enjoyed this great write. I love the twist at the end. F.

I for one read a similar article and wondered two things about...
Point one... Why is it anytime I am in Starbucks, does my mind wander into the realms of ways to make the barista (with the compulsory complex beard) realise that he looks ridiculous and he should stop dressing like he's an 18th century cobbler, while mistaking it as a personality. growing a beard should only be attempted if you dislike shaving and not to ponce around in front of a mirror 16 hours a day, grooming the bloody thing, and.. .

Point two... And what with the losing focus and inspiration parts, why am I not king of the universe already?

It was at this point of proceedings that woke from my coma and realised that I had been typing out loud again.
The batista didn't make bail and he was detained until his next hearing in July 😊

Over here, Asda, which was owned by Wal-Mart sell a five sachet box of caramel latte for 3.10 in pounds, which is probably $3.10 these days thanks to the morons in charge over here. I just stock up on it when it's on offer at 2.50, pour it into my Starbucks mug (gift) and laugh at saving four quid a pop, and I don't have to look at all those waste of space hipsters.
It's like a triple bonus all at once.
