ALL IN

Sometimes things shimmer

and you have to know why,

like the way water lingers on rocks

at the edge of a mountain brook.

It catches the sun a hundred ways

and you are frozen in delight.

It is best to learn a new place

deep, rather than wide, like

on that shore when you visit the

beach and do not understand until

the blue-green waves wash you in,

time and time again; so your belly

becomes the rumbling surge,

and you are ground into

the white sand and purple coquina.

Free-falling from ten thousand

feet is my measure of new love,

I am prickled with a torrent

of hormones, mouth open in a

silent wail…

I can step too near the thought of you

without words and am tied by the very

sinews of the Earth, and thus to your

muscles and bones, so when our fibers

get tangled and our sweat becomes one

by the side of a mountain brook,

our vision can narrow time to nothing,

and we are the only thing there is.

I willfully paused with you today. A new view on ordinary "moments" and even a vision of an extraordinary minute of shared memory. I did chuckle in understanding over the other "views"; but, this one - this ...one... joined the footprints" behind my eyes. Welcome to our world Vol.

The poet's world is a a fine place to be... Thanks for the welcome.
Each will view these things differently and that is ok except, in my opinion, some are missing the boat on life. It is not all about what you see, but what you feel, the rhythm of nature, the sounds, the vibrations the reason water glistens on the edge of a rock. Nicely done.

Love it. This speaks to me of the sights and sounds I see around me here in Scotland, that thanks to cloud and light can look different every time you see them and are just held in their awe every time you visit.
They do say if you don't like the view, wait 15 minutes and another one will appear as the light filters through the clouds to change your perspective.
There is nothing quite like that moment of being the only thing there is.
