I’ve grown

I’ve grown

A Poem by Voidless

A crippled ape eager to dance
with a twinkle in his eyes,
yet his movements don’t comply.
He questions why a thousand times.
His thoughts set ablaze.

He peers out the darkened window,
greeted by unending red roses.
None can quench the desperate vampire.
So that every pleasure becomes pain,
his eyes can not deceive him.

I’ve grown. I’ve outgrown. Overgrown.
My shell became a burden.
I’ve pushed until the heavens fell
but every strain lashed back.
Maybe I should just give up.
