Underwater

Underwater

A Poem by Voidless

A crash and a chill
I was already submerged
Head to toe, there I floated
A calming blueness caressed my body

Calmness turned to panic
I jerked and I squirmed
I tried to scream
And no one heard
No one

Muffled voices pierced the waters
I made out some words
“He’s gone. He’s finally gone.”
My tears disappeared under the ice

I gave up.
I deposited my last breath and sank under
Even if you wanted to help
It’s too late now
It’s too late
