I'm left with a lot of
time to myself, to think.. as many have instructed me not to
considering the direction my thoughts often to to take. And in my
Psychobiology class, I have been continuously pondering what reality is.
Phantom limbs perplex me. Being able to FEEL a limb, FEEL the pain
related with it, while the appendage is not actually there. With the
scientific facts surrounding the topic, it causes me to question what
reality is, and is it all just our own psychological perceptions. Could
we all be the heroes of our own tales? Victories fought for and won
within our own world, what would that all mean. Perhaps we are a species
that wants this. We search for answers with faith and fact, however
neither can answer everything.
Ask any scientist about the consciousness and they'll say "I ain't gotta
clue". How can that be? Ask a man or woman of faith and they'll say
"It's the soul, intangible but if you believe it's there, it's there".
Even more out of reach.
Reality could merely be an illusion. There is a theory of the
consciousness entitled: Mentalism. It states that what we perceive is
within our own creation. That each of us control our own separate world. Everything seen or experienced within these worlds we have created. The only thing I would say to counter that
would be that we cannot control these worlds if we are their creators,
[oh how swell would that be!] Or maybe we can, we just haven't reached a
certain level of understanding. Perhaps those like the Buddhist monks
who have reached enlightenment have learned, and within our own worlds,
they are our guides on how to take control. Perhaps the afterlife we so
seek is through understanding our own world, not faith.
But reality seems so surreal. It just doesn't ever seem to sit right with me. I see things, illusions while driving. The fact that humans strive for time travel, yet we do it on a daily basis. Start driving and during that drive, miles will seem like feet, and minutes will feel like seconds. Another illusion.
The line between what is real, and what is imaginary seems to be
as thin as a row of electrons. [That is if they are indeed REAL]
Any Thoughts?
