Benito (Shelter Dog)

Benito (Shelter Dog)

A Poem by Voice
"

Benito. A shelter dog from the Wyandotte Animal Shelter in Michigan.

"

Benito

Who knew this Taco Bell dog was a ladies man?

Growling and barking, but hey, I’m still a fan!

He may put off a mean demeanor till you give him a treat,

But he does it to hide the truth, he’s really quite sweet

Most cannot see he is just scared and alone

He is begging for attention and someone to give him a home

He loves going for walks and chasing his tail

And when he is out of the cage everyone is his pal!

So please don’t think you know him when he’s stuck behind bars

Because as much as we love him, he shouldn’t always be ours!

What a beautiful dedication to a precious dog... I used to work in an animal shelter in California... my heart just ached for the animals, knowing some would never find a home... You helped me remember... Yes, one could see the fear and loneliness... and the longing for love.
