Death's Golden Gate

Death's Golden Gate

A Poem by Voice
"

A poem about the suicides at the Golden Gate Bridge.

"

Death’s Golden Gate

Its gate is open

Its road paved with gold

It helps weary travelers

So I’ve been told

Its steal beauty

Is quite deceiving

Some who enter

Won’t be leaving

Its blood stained pillars

Stand so high

An easy exit

To whom walks by

The water whispers

False words said

Rocks & waves

Encase the dead

Climb on the railing

Jump on in

Lifeless body

Takes a swim

Goodbye sweet Cali

Farewell bad life

Sorry my children

Husband or wife

A body count

That keeps on rising

Its history

To some surprising

Rest now dear souls

You made your choice

Only the bridge is left

To speak your voice

I find the scrambled words in the beginning interesting, they can be read in many orders, this creates a vision of many voices all speaking at once, as if all those who have jumped are speaking.

The old saying bout burning bridges comes to mind reading this... the style did make it seem like a devil vs angel on the shoulder.

This is both amazing and scary at the same time.
I've never once read something like this.
great work.
I dont know if it's right, but when i read it, i read both in a sort of activist voice, and the suicidal's voice.

beautiful
