PapillonA Poem by VoiceFor those of you who dont know French Papillon means butterfly and the last line of the poem means butterfly let your wings spread and fly away. I hope you guys like it.Papillon She watched a Monarch gently gliding Her father was always passed out From the booze and the drugs So she spent her time With those beautiful bugs He said things would get better And that tomorrow was a new day But she got tired of waiting And she ran away She’s a papillon child Born to fly She follows the sun And she lives in the sky Dreams become reality When she is around With the butterflies Is where she can be found She took pictures of a Ulysses as it sat on a leaf Photography paid for college And her two year old daughter’s daycare For an eighteen year old mother They were fending quite fair When she got pregnant Her boyfriend left her alone So she found a job To get them a home She’s a papillon child Born to fly She follows the sun And she lives in the sky Dreams become reality When she is around With the butterflies Is where she can be found She admired the Admiral that was perched on the sill Lying in a hospital bed A twenty five year old cancer fighter Nights brought pain But everyday looked brighter The doctors couldn’t understand how she made it When everyone thought she was dying When she was released from the hospital She and her daughter were crying She’s a papillon child Born to fly She follows the sun And she lives in the sky Dreams become reality When she is around With the butterflies Is where she can be found She released a blue British into the wind Dressed in a white gown For her wedding day A loving husband and father Who would always stay Finally happy and loved Her past sets her free She’s a papillon child And she always will be Butterflies are always changing Just like the times Predictable yet different Just like these rhymes Be a papillon child Born to fly Follow the sun And live in the sky Dreams become a reality If you just look around With the butterflies Is where life’s secrets are found Papillon laisses tes ailles et vol *Dedicated to Amanda Korotney* © 2009 VoiceAuthor's Note
