The Upwards Descent

The Upwards Descent

A Poem by ac4st3r

Something evil, something bad

Something awful, something sad

Burnt the fire of my eyes

Turned to blue, it wasn't you

Only an immortal hand or eye

Dares to make me cry

When the star throws down her spears,

Closes her eyes, hides her fears

Upwards falls a falling tear

Of a fading star

And I promise you

I'll never be that far

There's nothing much to help me through

To keep this star from falling

And those immortal promises

Will never be that far

But who's immortal, I can't know

Has no name, can't play this game

Maybe that just goes to show

That dandelion steals smiles

Upwards falls a falling tear

Of a fading star

Promise me you'll never be far

'Cos I might just be that star

They say love brings greatness

But greatness no love

Just something evil, something bad,

Something awful, something sad,

Makes you tired, makes you mad,

And maybe half the truth

Is this song? If not, then it should be. With the flow and word choice, it lends itself to being set to music. There's a certain musicality in this and I found myself chanting (a bit like singing it) and tapping a foot. I think the message, while timeless, is presented in a unique way that would only serve to enhance this song. I am so glad you shared this and maybe one day some musician will stumble upon it, throw him/herself at your feet and beg you for the rights to record it as a song. Or. Maybe you'll take my suggestion and set it to music. Either way, it would be a win-win. (Doesn't that first option sound way cool, though?)
