The spider's alchemist.

The spider's alchemist.

A Story by Vix Vulli

The alchemist, was a strange sort. Neither cruel nor kind, just a cool temperance, brewed with a sense of dread. Wandering through vast shelves of lush and crystalline treasures, each one drawn to their black, soot hands. Their desk, a tempered oak, sprawled across it bubbling vials and flasks of chromatic colour.

At the edge of this sprawling, cramped world; a dark stained portal - its crevices beyond my view. When this world grew eclipsed by the moonlight once more, the alchemist would cross its boundary, abandoning this arcane workshop. Shadows invaded the shelves: leaves wilted, crystals faded, phials distilled to something monstrous. Swarming around me, drowning my world in dark vices of deceit and betrayal. Suffocating within me, all lights off by being. I am not me.

Finally, the wonder returned to the world. Vivid liquids boiled and bubbled, salts and chemicals mixed under florescent light, crystals and petals shone brighter than the celestial star, and the alchemist wandered about his shelves, drawn by daylight.
