Face To Face

Face To Face

A Poem by Visionary

Another time

Another place

I met myself

Face to face

As if in a looking glass

I stared right back

Thought I'd lost it

As a matter of fact

You look so young

What did you do?

You look so old

What happened to you?

Looking at each other

Seeing the change

Both are thinking

This is so strange

For a moment in time

Nothing was said

One looked back

One looked ahead

One had the memories

The other had a plan

One thinks it’s over

The other says, I can

Now you are older. You can appreciate your
poem so much more.

Actually in it`s simplicity your poem is profound.
Nothing speaks as loudly as quiet confidence.
Nothing contains the secrets of life like a simple
sentence.

You have done it all, you have confounded your
readers and you have entertained us. In the process
we have been tutored and processed with a gentle
touch.

This is an exquisite poem, created by a gifted writer.
Please bring more. This is only a taste of beauty.

Thank You !

I enjoy finding my old writings. I'm sure it was a pleasure to read it again after some time had passed. I certainly enjoyed reading it for the first time.

Time is a great teacher and also a clear mirror. the only unstable factor is our memory.
But when it is solid enough to compare our present self with the younger self,
it becomes enlightening as this poem has been.

We've never had the pleasure of meeting, but after reading this one I had to comment. I have reached this particular time in my life, and your work brought the realization of change and maturation into brilliant perspective. The piece can undoubtedly stand alone in terms of its quality, yet the photo serves as a perfect enhancement to mood, tone and theme.

I could see myself in that reflection, and I shed a tear while reading. But oh, what a positive conclusion :

One thinks it's over
The other says, I can

It's all in our approach and outlook. Older women are beautiful on the outside, but even more so within because of the depth and wisdom they possess from the process of living... the blood, sweat and tears which create that all important understanding of humanity and compassion.

Thank you for posting such meaningful work. My profile is closed at the moment because I'm remodeling my home and have little time for reviewing. Hopefully, I will re-open my account in the fall when my work is complete. Perhaps I will have the pleasure of meeting you then.

Peace and Blessings,
Apollonia

ps. A favorite from the moment I began reading...

Absoultely not simple. You are intuitive. I think every woman has this same thought when looking in the mirror. "I look in the mirror and what do I see? A total stranger is now staring back at me." It is the picture album of life that does not keep the pictures or negatives on file to compare last year to today. You are a wonderful writer. It does not take thirty verses to make an outstanding statement. I believe in the old adage,"Sometimes less, is more."
