The Invisible Dog

The Invisible Dog

A Story by SilverSpirit98
"

Jake is your normal six year old child who wants a loving dog to take care of, so he goes with his father to get a dog, but Jake and Rob are in for a surprise from Lila, the employee...

"
Rex, The Invisible Dog
"Yes! There is the adoption center! I can't believe we are here, already!" exclaimed Jake. Jake is six year old. He has blonde hair, and deep blue eyes.
"Whoa! Calm down! Keep hold of your horses, son!" said Rob, Jake's father. Who looks very similar to Jake, but has blue green eyes.
"Sorry dad... it's just that, I have been wanting a dog since like, forever!" said Jake.
"I know!" chuckled Rob while ruffling Jake's hair.
They walked into the adoption center and spoke to the employee.
"Hello sir, I am Lila. How many I be of your service today?" said Lila.
"Hi, nice to meet you Lila. I'm Rob, and this is my son Jake." said Rob while putting his arm around Jake's shoulder. "We are here for a dog."
"Ooh, well we have a very unique dog that came in a week ago. Would you like to check the dog out? He is a very sweet dog." said Lila. "But, there is something very unusual about him..." Lila muttered.
"What do you think, son?" Rob looked at Jake.
"Yes! I wanna see the unique puppy dog!" exclaimed Jake.
"Well that's great!" smiled Lila. "Just follow me, I hope you like the dog I am about to show you."
They followed Lila to a mini cage.
"That's a itty-bitty cage!" squinted Jake while watching Lila laugh.
Lila began to open the cage and whistle. Then, all of a sudden, out came... nothing!
"Where is the puppy dog?" whined Jake. "I want the puppy!"
"I was wondering the same exact thing, Jake..." Rob said. "Where is the dog?" Rob said while looking at Lila suspiciously.
"He is right there!" Lila laughed and pointed to the air.
"Your kidding, right?" said Rob.
"No... the dog is right there! That's the unusual and unique thing about him. He is invisible!" laughed Lila.
"Invisible?! Like a invisible monster? Like Harry Potter's invisible cloak?!" exclaimed Jake.
"Yup!" said Lila while trying not to laugh again.
"What?!" yelled Rob. "In my day invisible dogs were myths! And in this day also! At least, I think!"
"Well here is your brand new dog!" said Lila happily.
They looked at where the invisible dog should have been, and they saw as a dog appeared! It was a small German Shepherd puppy, with brown paws.
"Aw! He's so cute!" exclaimed Jake while petting and cradling the puppy in his arms.
"Isn't he?" smiled Lila.
"Well, do you want him?" Rob asked Jake with a smile.
"Yes please!" Jake said while making puppy dog eyes.
"Haha, well you can have him!" said Rob happily. He turned to Lila "How much is the dog?" Rob asked.
"He is free! You just need to fill out papers then, he is yours!" said Lila.
"Wow! Well ok then, lets get signing!" Rob said.
While Rob filled out the forms Lila told him to fill out, Jake was playing with his new soon-to-be puppy! He was already thinking of names!
"I have a name for him, dad!" said Jake while running to his father, after they were finished with the forms.
"Well, whats his name?" asked Rob.
"His name will be, Rex!" exclaimed Jake while jumping up and down.
"Perfect!" said Lila while writing something down onto the forms. "Your copy of the Adoption papers will be sent to your home by next week. You might want to go and get a collar now" smiled Lila.
"I think that's a great idea" said Rob while petting Rex.
"Dad, lets go home now! So we can show mommy the new puppy!" exclaimed Jake.
"Ok, Jake." said Rob while turning to Lila. "We will go introduce him to the whole family, and then go and get some puppy supplies."
"Great!" smiled Lila. "I'm gonna miss you Rex... i hope you live a good, invisible, puppy life!" smiled Lila while petting Rex on the head one last time.
"You could visit him any time you want!" said Jake. "Isn't that right, dad?" Jake said.
Rob nodded.
"Yay!" exclaimed Jake while watching Rex bark and wag his tail.
So, off they went. To introduce Rex to his new family.
They lived Happily Ever After, with an amazing, invisible dog.

This is quite interesting and unique. I really liked it. :) The only thing that unsatisfied me is the fact that the dog is invisable. I was hoping that it have been explained later on in the text, but it was not. Is the dog magical? Or was it just some part of their imagination?
Besides that, I really enjoy this story, and I do agree that it fits for young children.
