Throwing Stones

Throwing Stones

A Poem by D. R. Fitzgerald Jr

The pot begins to boil over

Flooding the clear vision of my heart

The glass shatters

From a stone hallucination

My fever towers, I lash out

Throwing the stone around

The stone of accusations

I dig myself a quarry

Stones lead to boulders

Boulders that break glass

That breaks glass already thought shattered

Hinted with sadness, and a sense of realization of the end, this is a well penned domino. I have to agree with Adam though, it seems like you need another line right after I dig myself a quarry

I think this could be fleshed out some but I was still able to get a clear interpretation of it. It just seems like everything is cyclical and that Newton had it right: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Great write and powerful imagery with the glass and boulders.

Go Ravens!!

It took me reading this several times before I understood that this was about jealousy and that your heart is the broken glass. This is actually one of your best poems. I really like it.
