Joe's POV

Joe: Congrats again on acing the exam, knew you would. *Winks*

Nick: *Blushing* Thank you & well its not all me ... I have an amazing teacher.

Joe: Why thank you very much, I do try my best. *Inclines head*

Nick: *Smiles; chuckling at his modesty*

Joe: So I'll see you tonight? I'd personally pick you up & take you, but I want to abide my Hugo's rules so I'll meet you there.

Nick: Its fine, I can't wait. *Dreamily smiles*

Joe: Me too. *Flashes an equally gleaming smile*

Nick: *Decides to mention then as it had caught my attention from before* I noticed, you were buzzing with excitement to finish class.

Joe: *Shrugs* Well you aren't the only one lets just say to get worked up about something like this, besides this is your first dance.

Nick: It is & I'm looking forward to it, dad's taking pictures too.

Joe: Of course he is, this is a critical moment for you & thats why its going to be a memorable one. *Flashes a big smile*

Nick: Oh?

Joe: Mm-hmm, I have a little special surprise for you.

Nick: That right? Well ... can I get a hint?

Joe: Okay, one hint. It has to do with music.

Nick: Then I already know I'm going to love it. *Concludes excited to see & hear his surprise*

Joe: I'm counting on it.

Nick: *Smiles again before asking him a question* Oh ... by the way just curious where were you at lunch?

Joe: Oh yes, sorry about missing it with you & Hugo. My sister, Kiley arrived in town today & she gave me a call saying she was on her way over to see me.

Nick: Aww, tell me more.

Joe: Well she's my older sister & precisely four years older than me making her sweet twenty-eight. She's just come home finally from releasing her newest single. Yep *Grins; goes on* she's a singer-songwriter-guitarist & pianist. She's been in the music business since 07'. And she's got four amazing albums & working on releasing her fifth in early 2014.

Nick: Wait a minute ... *Thinks fast* Kiley ... as in Kiley Anderson?! I love her music!

Joe: Get out, you're a fan?

Nick: Yes! I adore her music so much. I can't believe it, she's your sister? No wonder you want to sing!

Joe: Same here, number-one fan all the way. *Bashfully rubs the back of my neck* Yeah she's been my idol & you're right its mainly because of her influence.

Nick: So oh my gosh, you could've asked her to help you ... yet you asked my dad & I to help?

Joe: *Explains* I did it because one: I didn't want to use the fact she's my sister to get noticed musically & two: I genuinely wanted your guys' help.

Nick: Understandable & I'm very honored.

Joe: Thats my humble boy. *Eyes the clock* Uh-oh, Hugo's waiting, sorry I got caught up in the moment.

Nick: *Looks at it too* Oh my yes, he is, no worries so did I. I better get going, see you later Joe.

Joe: See you later Nick. *Leaves with him out of the classroom; locks up heading up the hill to my usual parking spot*

I found myself turning back to watch him walking away so cutely down the hill. Its kind of hard to focus on anything but him. Nick embodies cuteness & as much as I could continue to stare as he gets further & further away from my watchful gaze ... I know I have to break it up & get moving on. I chuckled to myself, gotta get ready & most of all I can't & don't want to be late.

Joe: *Just as I was turning myself around to face uphill I literally jumped in response.* Sheese girl don't do that!

Kiley: *Bursts into a fit of giggles* Why not, plus it worked so well I successfully scared my bro.

Joe: Whoo-hoo, high-five & kudos to you. What's up?

Kiley: Never mind me, what about you? What was that?

Joe: *Acts nonchalant* What do you mean? I was just walking up here to my bike.

Kiley: Not that. You were staring off in space at that boy.

Joe: So? He's my student & I'm good friends with him & his dad who works here too as a music teacher.

Kiley: What's his name?

Joe: His dad's name is Hugo Jonas.

Kiley: *Rolls his eyes* The boy's name genius.

Joe: Its Nick Jonas.

Kiley: Cute, same as our dad's.

Joe: Well *Claps hands* then ready to go?

Kiley: Yes, but before we do I still have some more questions.

Joe: Of course you do. *Folds arms* Lets hear it then.

Kiley: Okay I'm just going to say it: I think you like him.

Joe: Who?

Kiley: Nick Jonas who else.

Joe: Psshh. *Laughs* He's a good boy & student & musically very talented. Exactly what are you trying to get at Kiley?

Kiley: Don't play coy or I-don't-know-what's-going-on cause you know you do. You have a crush on that boy don't you?

Joe: *Shrugs* I'm doing no such thing & I think you've got it all wrong. Where do you get your information anyways?

Kiley: My Kiley-senses are telling me & I can tell by the way you look at him. Look what I'm trying to get at here is for you to admit it. I'm not going to go ballistic if thats what you're worried about. And if I'm right like I know I am, then cool.

Joe: *Starts doubling over with laughter* Kiley-senses? Oh thats a good one! Okay whatever you say. *Looks at her when all the laughter was out of my system for now; eyes her as if making her sure she isn't messing with me*

Kiley: What? *Smiles at him folding my arms across my chest mirroring him* Did you think I was going starting acting all homophobe? That I'd be grossing out or putting you down cause if you thought that then get that thought right out of your head this minute. You know me better than to act that way, of course I accept that your gay.

Joe: *Unfolds arms* Well now that you mentioned it a lot of those thoughts did cross my mind. Alright, alright they're gone with the wind now those thoughts, you know you're taking this a lot better than I thought you would. Hush though, the whole neighborhood doesn't need to know alright.

Kiley: Joe *Touches his shoulder* your my brother & I love you, always. *Pulls him into a hug* You know I support you in anything. *Softly giggles* Right sorry.

Joe: Aww, I love you too sis, you know your the best. *Hugs her back; kisses her head* Listen as much as I want to continue this conversation we best get out of here & go elsewhere. Want to go my house or the beach?

Kiley: I know. *Kisses his cheek; pulls back* Good point, the beach naturally.

Joe: Awesome, well then get on & hang on tight. *Mounts my bike; straps on my helmet*

Kiley: Just like old times. *Gets on behind him; got my helmet on already; hangs onto him ready to go*

Joe: Just like it. *Smiles & takes off turning right passing Milton heading directly west to the beach*

As I drove us there, I couldn't help think about how well Kiley has truly taken to the news of me liking Nick. Its true I was thought she was going to go off about it & tell me me to quit it. I wasn't expecting her to be so chill with it, but then again I guess I underestimate my sister. All my life she's been like that, I guess it isn't such a surprise. She hasn't changed, she's still the same, same old funny & awesome Kiley. She must have been spying for awhile to come to her conclusion. So honestly ... its just my parents that I have to make sure whom don't find out. Mom I predict might be disappointed & shocked, but its dad who will be the most upset. As I parked & we headed onto the beach loving the feeling of the sand between our toes, my worries of my parents finding out faded into the background.

Kiley: Sooooo .... *Draws out* tell me the scoop of Nicky.

Smiling & sitting down with her on the sand watching the ocean I began telling her everything back to the first day I met him. I knew I would never tire of recapping that moment, its changed my life for the better.

Kiley: *Finally speaks when he finished his story* Oh my God, you love him!

Joe: I do.

Kiley: And by the sound of it he does too. Well, Joey *Pats his knee affectionately* honestly I think you have something special here, only thing is the waiting game of his age. You think you can hold out for him?

Joe: I believe he does. And thank you, I feel so too. I know I can, but what about him? Can I expect him to feel the same as he continues to grow up?

Kiley: From the way you described it, I definitely believe he can. He sounds like a mature boy for his age & he isn't going for his childhood best friend & there isn't anyone in the mix so I think you guys will make it together for sure.

Joe: You think so huh? I know though that his best friend isn't giving up on Nick & honestly I don't blame him for it. If I was him, I'd do the exact same, but I'd put less pressure on Nick. And as for other potential boys, there's none that I know of, but what if he wouldn't tell me if there were?

Kiley: I know so. Well Donie is it? *Receives a nod from him* Okay so Donie loves him deeply, but no matter what he does Nick doesn't feel the same. Its possible the more Donie tries, the more Nick isn't respond back just because he's into you. In my opinion, Donie needs to take a hint & whiles its hard & I totally get what he must be going through & feeling ... he's just got to move on. And don't worry about other boys & if anything Nick sounds like he would tell you & be honest. However if not & you're suspicious, keep an eye on him & watch for the signs, but really I think you'd be worried over nothing.

Joe: I guess you're right, but in a way its almost unfair to Donie.

Kiley: Yeah it is, but don't you think if Nick truly wanted to be with him would he be so hung up on you?

Joe: I see what you're getting at, however Nick's young maybe he isn't sure of his feelings?

Kiley: Again from what you've told me, he's made his feelings crystal clear for you & how he feels about Donie. I don't think it gets any clearer than that. The boy knows how he feels, just accept it.

Joe: I do accept it, I just .... *Stops*

Kiley: *Takes a guess at why he stopped finishing for him* You're just afraid because of his age, because he's young & he could possibly change his mind?

Joe: Yeah. *Nods; rubs a hand over his eyes*

Kiley: Don't worry so much. *Nudges him lightly* He is young, yeah so what? If he changes his mind one day, you can't hold it against him & same goes for you. I know you love him & he loves you, so just take it slowly & see where this love goes. Just continue your teacher & student relationship & you'll be fine. And as much as you two guys might want to kiss, you just gotta hold out & wait. Plus I know you know better to than to engage in intimate relations with a minor.

Joe: *Nods* Thanks Kiley. And of course I do, I wouldn't ever do that to Nick not till he was ready & of age. *Decides not to tell her about our kiss*

Kiley: Just think: don't be a pervert.

Joe: Gee why didn't think of this sooner? *Jokes*

Kiley: Just sayin'. Holy smokes! *Looks at my watch*

Joe: What is it?

Kiley: The dance! You gotta get ready!

Joe: Relax girl, we've got time.

Kiley: Well times up, you gotta eat & me too in fact, & get dressed uh hello! *Stands up*

Joe: *Looks up at her* Whoa, wait a minute here. What's with this "we" business?

Kiley: What? So you're not inviting me?

Joe: *Stands up too* Of course you are, I just wanted to see your face when I said that.

Kiley: Ha, ha, same old Joe.

Joe: Same old Kiley. *Grins*

Kiley: Come on, now. *Grabs him ushering him to hurry*

Joe: Slow down, will you. 

Kiley: And what fun would that be?

Joe: Not as fun?

Kiley: Exactly.

Joe: Okay, whatever you say pushy. *Chuckles*

Nick's POV

My heart was beating fast as I was taking a shower back at home preparing myself to get ready for tonight. It is just a dance I reminded myself. And so it is, but its my first dance. I've never attended one before, I don't know what its like. And with me being naturally shy, I'm surprised that I'm not worried about dancing in public. Its not a big deal, of course its a dance so dancing is involved. Think about Joe, my mind reminds me. Just think of how he'll look. I imagine him in a tux & my eyes just bulge at how handsome he'd look all suave & sexy. Oh God, I'm blushing now. I bite my lip trying to control it, but its useless cause Joe surrounds my thoughts now. Every part of me is flushed now, just great.

Ty: Don't fight it, just accept it. *Tells him appearing right outside of his shower sitting on the closed toilet seat*

Nick: *Gasps; almost slips looking around for him* T-ty?

Ty: I'm here.

Nick: Where here?

Ty: *Chuckles* Peak outside your shower curtain & see.

Nick: *Pulls back the curtain only revealing my head; smiles* You're here!

Ty: I am. *Waves to him; turns serious looking apologetic* Listen before you say anything, I'm sorry for blowing you off & leaving you it was wrong of me & unfair to you.

Nick: *Listening to him; accepts his apology* Its alright. So I'm assuming you want to talk about earlier?

Ty: Only if you want to, if not its fine.

Nick: No, right now is good. I don't want this eating at us. So Ty ... I've thought about everything you said & what I said & I think you're right. I love you, but I do love Joe more. I'm truly sorry, but I can't date you or start anything romantic with you, I hope you understand.

Ty: *Sighs knowing it was coming, its always been inevitable* I do, thanks for being honest with me & telling me.

Nick: Are you okay? *Wants to make sure*

Ty: *Nods; smiles* I am.

Nick: You sure?

Ty: Yeah, I mean it sucks, but I know where you stand & I accept it.

Nick: I'm sorry.

Ty: Don't be.

Nick: You'll find someone, I know it Ty.

Ty: Someone other than you? That might be hard. *Teases*

Nick: Ty.

Ty: I know, I will try my best not to flirt.

Nick: I'm serious though, just don't give up on love.

Ty: I won't, thank you Nick. I'm sure you're right. So back to you mister, good job on the Donie business earlier.

Nick: *Closes my shower curtain; resumes finishing cleansing myself whilst still speaking* I knew you'd see that, but can you believe him?

Ty: *Chuckles loudly* I'm not surprised, that boy has guts. And just so you know he didn't let up after everyone left class & it was just you & Joe left.

Nick: What? H-he stayed! That little ...

Ty: Ah-ah-ah you're too young to curse & besides I handled it.

Nick: How exactly? He's not allowed to see you.

Ty: I think a little video-recap is in order. *Supplies him with a screen inside his shower letting it show what went down between Donie & I* See?

Nick: *Watches; my facial expression changing from mad to scared quickly cause of the situation* I-I ... can't believe you did that. You could've got in big trouble.

Ty: And I thought I would too, believe me, but the next thing I know I'm transported to speak with your mother. She did scold me on it, but she didn't punish me or anything.

Nick: Can I see that recap too?

Ty: Of course. *Plays it for him*

I watched this recap closely. My mother didn't look angry or even upset, she was must have a lot of patience. She approves of Ty & I? I hadn't expected that, but then again lately I haven't been expecting a lot of things. I feel bad now for saying how I feel now knowing she was so accepting.

Ty: Nick its okay, really. You don't have to feel bad, It shocked me how much she was cool with everything too. She's just like your dad & you.

Nick: Yeah. *Pauses before continues* But maybe she was accepting because she wanted someone closer to my age.

Ty: The age difference does play a role into it, but I don't think that was what made her choose to allow me to date you. She just believes, thats a gift of hers ... thing is though sometimes that belief isn't right. I'm sure she believes in you & Joe & thats why I want to try & focus all I can to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible for you two.

Nick: I thought as much. Well I do appreciate it, but you still got to lay low with Donie. I know no matter how much you want him to stop bugging me & while I want that too ... you still have to be careful about confronting him & stuff. I don't want to lose you.

Ty: Understood. Oh Nick, you'll never lose me I'm here to stay until you no longer need me.

Nick: But I will always need you.

Ty: Not when you reach eighteen & you can date Joe for real. You & him will be too busy together & I won't be needed.

Nick: You're wrong & I want you to stay. Even if you find someone else to love, I still want to see you in future. You can't abandon me.

Ty: Awesome!

Nick: Huh?

Ty: I said: awesome!

Nick: No I heard that. I'm just confused here.

Ty: Oh Nicky, Nicky. I was just waiting for you to say all those lovely things you just said aloud.

Nick: Why you trickster you!

Ty: Of course I'm saying forever, wild horses couldn't drag me away.

Nick: *Giggles*

Ty: Oh! And back to your thoughts when I arrived back here don't be ashamed of when you think of Joe. Uh-uh don't even try to deny you weren't imagining him kissing you passionately & holding you close.

Nick: *Blushes* Ty! I ... *Sighs* Okay I was imagining that.

Ty: Cool, step one: you admitted it, good work. Step two: work on engaging in a kiss with him.

Nick Are you crazy? My dad's going to be there, all my other teachers & fellow students!

Ty: Not at the dance, silly relax. I mean in the distant future.

Nick: Okay ... so why are you bringing it up now?

Ty: Duh, I want to get a rise out of you.

Nick: Great & now thats over buh-bye.

Ty: Aw, come on Nick I'm just joshing.

Nick: And you're the king of that next to my dad.

Ty: Hey its what I do.

Nick: *Finishes showering; turns the water off* Yeah no kidding. Okay I'm coming out so turn around.

Ty: Do I have to?

Nick: Ty. *Warns cutely*

Ty: Yeah, I know no peaking.

Nick: I'm watching you.

Ty: Wouldn't have it any other way. *Cheekily smiles*

Nick: Flirt. *Grabs a nearby towel drying access water*

Ty: Cuteness.

Nick: Teaser. *Leans down to dry my legs*

Ty: Bashful.

Nick: Smart aleck. *Towel dries my hair*

Ty: Beautiful.

Nick: *Blushes* Listen for a guy who says he's okay with not dating, you're being awfully flirty.

Ty: Its all a little lesson & some fun. I know I have a bad habit of it, it seems its not so easy to break when it comes to you.

Nick: A lesson huh? *Smirks; decides to smack him with another towel* Hows this then?

Ty: *Yelps slightly* Oh-ho-ho-ho! Saucy, I like this!

Nick: You would.

Ty: But in all seriousness, I will do my best to lay off. Fill free to put me in line if I go overboard.

Nick: Glad to have your permission & very well sir. *Mocks* 

Ty: Ha ha ha, thats my Nick. So would you like me to dry your hair?

Nick: Its alright I can do it.

Ty: *Pouts* Okay, then I'll just get your tux ready then.

Nick: That would be great, thanks.

Ty: No problem. *Leaves him to go to his room*

Nick: *Shakes head at him as I began to blow dry my wet curls*

Boys, matter of fact guardian angels. In no way did I ever picture one this way. Even more so, him falling for me yet being all cool in accepting my decision yet still flirting. I got to hand it to him, Ty's quite the character. I'm just glad he came back & that we talked about things. It would've bothered me through the night if he hadn't come back. I do hope Ty will be okay, I mean we're so close & I just worry how hard this might be for him. I have faith though that unlike Donie, I trust that Ty will respect my feelings & decision. And I'm happy that he was there to help with Donie, I couldn't imagine the consequences if he'd seen more & reported Joe. I would feel terrible if Joe ever got into trouble for trying to be with me. It makes me mad that Donie is going to such lengths to ruin Joe. What kind of person has he become? Its like I no longer know who he is. I don't like what this is doing to him. Maybe Joe & I shouldn't be hanging together so much. 

Just thinking of not being near Joe saddens me, but I have to think of keeping him safe. I know he'd protect me too, I just care about him too much to ever put him such a situation as getting caught would. I have to be mature about this, definitely after tonight I need to speak to him & let him know. Its not fair, but I think he'll agree & understand. No matter how much I want him to hang around me & how easily Ty could allude Donie time & time again ... its also risking Ty getting into trouble. Even though my mom was fine with the turnout, I still suspect that in the future in might not be so fine. I love Joe & Ty, & they both love me back. So far they've gone through a lot up until now & then some & its still early in the school year ... there's still so much time left till the end of eighth grade & graduation. Oh dear, graduation.

I haven't even thought about that far along in time, while that would be a huge accomplishment & great celebration ... it would be the end of attending Milton ... meaning no more seeing Joe day-to-day. Its alright I remind myself. I could still see him, maybe if its okay with dad I could call him by phone or e-mail or something to stay in contact. And its not like he would stop all of sudden visiting rights. Don't stress I tell myself, its too early to be thinking of this, but it is good that I have an idea of what's to come. Tonight though is a time to have fun, tonight is now.

So with that in mind I squared my shoulders & finished with my hair & fixed it up. Then after I got dressed I checked myself & do did Ty.

Ty: You look so stunning, Nick.

Nick: Stop it. *Rolls eyes*

Ty: No I mean it, its like I'm seeing a man right before my eyes. *Starts to get a little teary-eyed*

Nick: Are you crying?

Ty: What? No, pssh there's just something in my eye. *Rubs eyes with one of my hands*

Nick: Mm-hmm, nice try. *Smiles*

Ty: You're growing up before my eyes, my Nick.

Nick: Hey, I'm still only fourteen I'm not all grown up yet. *Reminds*

Ty: Well just you wait, the next couple of years will go by & man I probably won't be able to take my eyes off you when you start getting muscles & stuff.

Nick: Yeah, like you don't already. So I guess I'm all ready. *Looks at down at myself*

Ty: That you are, now go on & show your dad he's ready with the camera.

Nick: Oh brother.

Ty: Enjoy & seriously just have a blast! *Exclaims*

Nick: *Nods happily; asks him* Will you be watching me?

Ty: Darn right I will, I wouldn't miss a beat. *Promises*

Nick: Will you appear?

Ty: Only if you need me.

Nick: Okay.

Ty: I'm not going to spoil the fun or your night, I'm going to watch over you. *Tells him sincerely*

Nick: Thanks Ty. *Hugs him then*

Ty: Your welcome. *Hugs him back; smiles* See you later stud.

Nick: *Laughs* Later T. *Finally unlocks my door walking out of my room into the living room to find my dad but it appeared empty* Dad?

Hugo: *Jumps out from behind him starling him bouncing with excitement* Smile!

Nick: *Quickly recovers from the slight scare & smiles widely*

Hugo: Oh, my boy. *Looks at the picture; shows it to him* You look like a fine young little man.

Nick: Dad, its okay don't choke up please.

Hugo: I know, I'm good. *Sniffles* I have one more thing I want to give you, hold on be back right.

Nick: Okay. *Decides to sit on the couch wringing my hands together waiting for him; bites my lip a little*

Hugo: *Returns with my hands behind my back walking over towards him* Your mother & I have been saving this for when you got older, but I think nows an excellent time to give it to you. *Presents the gift handing it to him*

Nick: *My eyes started to tear as my throat got caught up & my heart beat stuttered a bit as I held the gift in my hands. It was a necklace with a dog tag that had my full name on it & my birthdate & on the back it had a personalized inscription that read: To Nick, our wonderful & only son ... love, Mom & Dad. Whatever control I had left shattered & I began to cry, quickly putting the necklace on & giving my dad a long & big hug*

Hugo: *Hugs him back; wipes away his tears* Hey now, don't cry she wouldn't want you to cry not tonight. Just know son you will always be loved, always.

Nick: I know, I love you both so much, I always will. *Nods; smiling*

Hugo: *Unwraps from the hug to stand up & turn my back to him kneeling down on the floor*

Nick: What are you doing?

Hugo: What's it look like? I'm giving you a piggy-back ride.

Nick: Dad are you sure, I'm heavier now.

Hugo: Nonsense I can handle it, get on sport.

Nick: Alright if you insist. *Chuckles; stands up to go over to him so he could pick me up*

Hugo: Alright! *Sing-songs*

Nick: Careful! *Alerts*

Hugo: Aren't I always?

Nick: On occasion. *Smiles as he took us outside; locking up our house then going towards the car putting me back down so I could get in*

Hugo: *Soon starts up the car beginning to drive back to Milton* So how you feeling?

Nick: Like I'm ready to go, been waiting for this moment. I just can't wait to see Joe. *Blushes as I admitted aloud*

Hugo: And I bet ... *Raises one finger telling him like it is* he can't wait to see you.

Nick: *Looks down bashfully*

Hugo: Aww, don't be shy you know its true.

Nick: Yeah, but I also just thought of something.

Hugo: What's that?

Nick: We won't be able to dance together really.

Hugo: It'll be fine, teachers can dance together with students. We're not there to stand there you know, we like to dance too.

Nick: But won't somebody suspect something if Joe & I are the only one's?

Hugo: Don't be so concerned, even if you are the only ones its all innocent fun.

Nick: Won't the principle see?

Hugo: He probably will, but he'll be too busy dancing with his wife.

Nick: Are you sure it'll be okay?

Hugo: Nick trust me when I say there's nothing to worry about.

Nick: *Exhales* I trust you, I'll stop worrying.

Hugo: Good, once you start dancing you'll loosen up worry-wart.

Nick: D-aad!

Hugo: Whoops, did I say that aloud? *Covers mouth playfully*

Nick: *Shakes head yes*

Hugo: *Shrugs* Ah well, here we are. *Parks in my usual spot* Wowie looks like its packed house, whoo! *Eyes all the cars parked in the lot & even on the street*

Nick: Oh my gosh. *Gasps*

Hugo: Yeah I'll say, lets go in shall we?

Nick: Mm, lets. *Gulps; nerves starting to get the best of me*

Hugo: Relax. *Reminds him*

Nick: *Nods* Uh-huh. *Walking alongside him to the multipurpose-room*

Hugo: *We walked in together through the doors marveling at the sight* Party time! *Grins*

My mouth was probably hanging open at what I was seeing, but I couldn't help it. There were students dancing everywhere & teachers too randomly scattered in the massive crowd. And on stage there was a DJ playing music, it was decorated with balloons & streamers. And looking towards the back of the room where they served lunch were snacks, food, & drinks. It was all simple, but honestly better than I pictured. And so I kind of stood there in a frozen daze not even noticing dad stealing a picture of my state. What brought out of it was seeing Joe for the first time. His eyes instantly collided with mine & he smiled at me with that smile that beginning to melt my frozen-self.

Joe & I & mostly everyone else ceased dancing to listen & sing along to Kiley's amazing song. Listening to her sing it live was so cool, I couldn't believe she was here. I was looking back & forth between her & Joe at one point it was kind of funny you'd never know they were related, but their singing said it all. Her & Joe have very strong voices, both of which are so inspiring to me. This song in particular speaks to me a lot, its reminding me of what's going on in my life now. The first verse makes me think of my mother & how she's so far away up in the heavens. And as much as I want to see her, it can't happen, but I'm holding on praying for a way so it can happen one day. Then the third verse also reminds me of how I'm losing love (Donie & Ty's in a way) & instead I'm sacrificing their feelings for me (romantically) & engaging in a love that is pretty taboo with Joe. However I do know its worth it even if its so wrong. Like Kiley's song, I'm going to hold on. I know within my heart, that being with him is right & no one can tell me different. I love him.

Nick: I-I ... don't really know. The dance is still going on, nobody would want to hear me.

Joe: Not true, I would & of course Kiley would & Hugo too. And *Points to Nick's other four teachers* so would they.

Nick: *Looks behind me to see Ms. Knox, Idylla, Mr. McCallon, & Mr. Guttman approaching us smiling widely along with my dad coming along onto the scene as well*

All my teachers were surrounding me & Joe's sister & all of them were eager for me to sing. I couldn't believe it. I didn't realize dad had been bragging about me, probably Idylla & Joe too. This was one of those moments that seemed so unreal, but here it was happening right before my eyes. I watched as Ms. Knox went on stage listening as she began to speak into the mike.

I listened & watched in awe as Ms. Knox sung her heart out on that stage. I had no idea that she could sing like this, it was mind blowing. She sang with such passion & her range was just incredible. The song itself was even catchy & definitely destined to be hit. I didn't recognize it, I wondered if it was a song of her own. If so ... then wow is she undeniably talented. At one point I looked at Joe & our eyes locked as she was singing "love on top." He smiled at me & in the moment I got lost in those eyes. By the end of the song, the crowd of people clapping like crazy pulled back from my dreamy state.

Ms. Knox: Thank you, thank you! You're a wonderful crowd! *Sees then Idylla mouthing to her "me next." I nodded & flashed a big smile* Well then, give a big round of applause to Idylla Sae, whoo!

How did I not know about this? Idylla could sing? It made sense since Donie could sing, of course Idylla would too. Although she never mentioned it to me before & I don't recall ever hearing her. Whatever the case may be, I'm smiling & hanging on every note. Her voice is angelic & so moving to me. I can feel the connection to the song, she definitely wrote it. Its quite special & I feel that. I too want to freeze this moment just like her song. Again I look at Joe to see him already watching me, feeling my cheeks tint pink, I shyly smile. Oh Joe, how I want to run into his arms & stay there.

As Mr. McCallon begin to play on the piano & sing, I couldn't help sway my body side-to-side. His voice was very country, it was cool to watch him. Seems like I'm continuing to be left in awe by all my fellow teachers. Mr. McCallon's song was simple & overall a feel good song. I liked it, that much I knew. I quickly caught onto the main chorus & bobbed my head to it. In a blink of an eye it ended, guess it was a short song, but no less a wonderful song.

As dad sang, I caught him looking directly towards me & I knew that his song had meaning for me. He's the man with a plan. Oh how his voice is so professional & so soulful. I'm drawn into every time he sings. He's my mentor, he always has been. I strive to be just like him. He owns the stage & some how has even acquired a choir in the mix. Huh, a very nice touch indeed way-to-go dad. This performance is by far the best yet. I listen fasciated & captivated & feel lifted by his voice. I smile brightly, I just love whenever he sings. This is a song I haven't heard from him, but as I continue to listen I just know in my heart its beautiful. Dad's meant to sing, reach out & share his amazing gift. Mr. Guttman's voice was as deep as they came as he began his ballad playing too on the piano. It commanded everyone's attention, it was that moving & more. It was strong & the lyrics spoke volume to me. It was like opera with a touch of pop, it was so amazing just to even witness. And just like that I was brought out of my thoughts by a single tap on the shoulders. I whipped around to see Joe behind extending his hand towards me. Without hesitation or fear, I took his hand as he led me into a waltz. We moved together as one, we flowed & swelled with the music. Everything became blurred in the distant. This was our moment, just ours.

In Joe's eyes I could see utter happiness & if I had any doubts if he didn't feel the same as I, it all melted away. He loved me. My heart felt it. Me. He's chosen me. And I've chosen him. We belong together. As we continue to dance, it feels like we're flying. The song is so beautiful, its making this moment the best I've ever experienced. We're close, the way he leads me ... so graceful & gentle I'm helpless to follow him. I feel alive in his touch & his warmth. I just want to stay, can't we just stay like this always. It dawns on me in the moment that I've changed I realized. I am not he same boy I was before I met him. I've fallen in love for the very first time. I'm truly happy.

My eyes were trained on Joe the entire time, he was taking so many risks tonight & in fact so was I ... but it didn't seem either of us cared. I listened, hanging on every word. The lyrics, the way his eyes shined, the way he looked my way ... it all went straight through my heart. I was touched & deliriously happy. I guess I should known he was going to sing too. I thought of Joe, how he'd come into my life changed my world ... turned everything upside down as I started off on my own. He was my higher love, I'd found it. God I'd found it. Mom I've found it. I'm only fourteen, but I've never been more sure than I am right now. I love this man dearly. My eyes close as I continue the song, losing myself in it. I want him to know, I love him too. I strive to deliver my message, & with the help of the choir ... we bring the song to life. We sing together, its like being in church. Suddenly I hear the sound of Joe's voice join in & I smile. Then I hear my dad join too, followed one-by-one all the rest of my teachers & Idylla & Kiley. We sing it, giving it our all. We shoot for the stars taking it higher & higher with every word we sing. All our voices mix & blend together, but still mine seems to stand out above the rest & Joe's too ... its truly special.

By the end of it, the crowd erupts into a symphony of cheering & screaming. We're all smiles as we take a bow together. I humbly take turns to name everyone again clapping & thanking them for joining in with me.

Joe: And everyone finally Nick Jonas! *Clapping fiercely for him as is everyone else in the room is*

Nick: *Blushes; bows. I waved at the crowd & then left the stage giving back the spot to the DJ* Whew well that was fun.

Hugo: I'll say!

Joe: It was spectacular!

Kiley: Not to mention awesome!

Idylla: I knew Nicky would bring it on home! *Hugs him*

Nick: *Hugs her back* Yeah? Well what I didn't know was that you could sing like that.

Ms. Knox: *Chuckles; rejoins the group* Ooh secrets Idylla, shame on you.

Idylla: Speak for yourself Zabrina. Guess the cats out of the bag, surprise Nick? *Smiles*

Nick: Wait a minute. *Begins to put two & two together* Was this … all planned?

Mr. McCallon: Well in a way …

Mr. Guttman: What he means to say …

Joe: *Just says it* Yes!

Hugo: Of course we did. *Showing a big grin*

Nick: Okay, not that I'm complaining, but you guys really went all out.

Kiley: We all knew it needed to be big & after hearing about you being so shy we thought you would need all of us to give you a little boost.

Idylla: And it looks like it worked.

Ms. Knox: So how do you feel now Nick?

Nick: I'm …. overwhelmed, but in a good way.

Mr. McCallon: You sure have a pair of lungs on you, kiddo.

Kiley: And cuteness to bute. *Chimes in*

Mr. Guttman: So you definitely want to be a artist right?

Nick: Well … I hope one day I can.

Ms. Knox: Well honey you'll have no problem in that cause as far as I'm concerned you just stunned all of us who hadn't heard you before.

Hugo: Its cause he keeps it hidden, but tonight we had the pleasure of hearing it come alive. Well done son, well done. *Claps as the rest of them followed in suit*

Nick: Thank you. I appreciate it so much. *Nods in turn to each & every one of them* You all rocked it tonight!

Joe: Well it is a dance after all.

Hugo: And speaking of that, its time to dance. Idylla may I have this dance?

Idylla: Why of course you, Hugo. *Chuckles; takes his hand*

Mr. McCallon: *Follows the clue-in* Zabrina would you-

Ms. Knox: Sure thing cowboy, lets go. *Smiles; leads the way*

Mr. Guttman: *Clears throat* Ahem, um Kiley would you like to dance with me?

Kiley: Of course I would, Jaron. *Goes off to dance with him*

Joe: Guess that leaves you & I right?

Nick: *Blushes* Aren't we going to be a little obvious?

Joe: Maybe so, but tonights special.

Nick: It is. *Nods; follows his lead to dance with him*

The rest of it all went by all too fast for me, but every moment of it I spent time with Joe dancing the night away. And its not like we left out my dad & my other fellow teachers, they each got their turn in. Its so funny cause I would've thought this would be way weird, but in all honesty its been so much fun. By the end when the clock struck 8:00 PM, I was pouting sadly that the dance had come to an end. But it wasn't like it was the last one, from what I learned from Joe & everyone else there were others to come throughout the rest of the year. And at that, I could only beam & count the days. Joe has made this night the most memorable for me. His song is still replaying in my mind, & just watching him going on stage & hearing him … I can't think of anything else. Even as we say goodnight & goodbye for now, I'm all in daze. Back home, I barely recall taking a shower, eating dinner, or even going to bed… but I do recall picturing Joe. Note to self: try to stop smiling. Mm, goodnight.
