We Poets are 21st Century Prophets filling up notebooks and screaming on stages
We connect in a fashion
as we wear words
We dance on pages stripping naked
to get you to listen
like what we have to say
can be heard better by eyes
but only 4% of the public
suffers with Sinestesia
And still we slash our wrists with ballpoint pens to get our souls heard
Hanging our pain like paintings in an art exhibit entitled "Emotional Poets"
Wanting Waiting Wishing for an Art Critic to tare us apart
Letter by letter word for word
Because...
Because we are so tightly put together
That we love to be torn apart
We turn the pain into art and scars into deeply embedded ink wells
Don't you see?
We 21st Century Prophets hold the keys to our broken heart cages by wielding pens in ways that spark thought
Cant you see?
Our wrists are still tender yet we slash them open again and again because...
Because writers block is a far far worse form of torture
"And still we slash
our wrists with ballpoint pens
to get our souls heard"
This says it all! We are poets and you have captured our essence with your wonderful words. Yes, we NEED to express ourselves and we want to be read...to touch other lives and to reach out across the world. So emotive and very powerful. Great work. Lydi**

Just read this and liked it enormously. I think you caught the essence of the frustration of our craft and more. I'll be reading more of your work later when I have put my children to bed. Well done on your book by the way...i had a peek on Amazon. Don't ever lose heart.
:O If I am quite honest... I am almost lost for words with this...
It's a really well rounded metaphor, and an interesting play from words.. if that makes much sense...?
Its a beautiful poem, and to be honest, I cannot think of anything else to say.
this might not be the best of reviews, but i shall certainly check out a lot more of your work!
Wow! This was immensely intense. Almost took me by the scruff of my neck and dragged me into its turbulent flow. Extremely forceful metaphors, well-conceived repetition of ideas: slashing wrists for instance. Very effective use of rhetorical questions too....

Could go on quoting lines here...Each one made a profound impact. You are seriously talented. :) Wonderful verse!
this was wonderful..great tribute to a species that may abolish.
we do everything that cross the mind,we shout even clothe in words
we feed on them, and try to feed others just so they listen
ready to go bare and even mock ourselves just to be heard
for alas most has gone mute and no feelings, what fools
always trying ,always crying with real tears, could anyone hear
lovely write..
i don't know what to say that hasn't been conveyed yet, this is fantastic and puts the frustrations writers have on a pedestal. and the last part is of course so true it's painful.
Loved it! Go young writers! Our generation is so sucked into pop culture and desensitizing media that we forget about the most powerful thing in culture, the pen and paper. Great poem!
