Raven speak of dark and dreary night Wrapped in feathers of your fright Orange moon of Saturn's beauty Depressed thoughts of reality Whispering raven of my demise Sitting steady voice of lies Crimson drops of satins last kiss Mixed with Sirens forbidden abyss Swirls of black sin Creeping obsessions under skin Sending gallows of ravens breath Glowing anticipation of witches Macbeth Soft touches of glistening pelt Dancing black birds of ribbons felt Dying souls of beings lost Simple pleasures of murderous cost Dark and dank midnight screams Frost of demonic ember dreams Lunatic hearts of desires last sprinkle Raining fires of stars empty twinkle Lust of shameful sigh Unicorns silver of healing sky Phoenix's talk of powers divine Sleeping skulls of humans decline Skeletons blank stare of hell's fall Listening to the deathly horn of raven's call
This was inspired by "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe originally written in the late 90's after my 9th grade lit teacher told us that if we memorized The Raven and recited it to the class that whoever did so word for word got an A for the whole year no matter what they did or did not do
So I did, but half way through I froze and couldn't remember another word it was ok I got an A in that class anyway as it was one of my faves. The whole reason I tried it in the first place was cause a boy that I liked bet me I couldn't and that he could so I had too lol anyway I made it a lot further than he did
This poem is posted in one of my old blogs that I just started using again 12/09/07

wow samantha I think this is one of your best Poe would have been honored I cant even speak to how good this is and honestly sam I think your work will be read for years to come and I would not at all be surprised to see your name amongst the greats
Poe could write a story. The movies could never equal the books. I like your story. Raven never create fear. To me. The large black birds could terrorized a park or yard. Great description gave life to your amazing poetry.

Wow. This is a great write and the fact that one of my favorite poets was inspiration for this makes it all that much better. Nice flow and lines! Beautifully penned.
Wow, very, very dark. I like it though, I can clearly see where the inspiration came from, but I seriously think this is one of your best image-focused poems.
