A Future

A Future

A Poem by Samantha ~virginpoet

Today is your birthday
and I have no gift to give

You know I'm not one for
material things but I love to give

And I am sorry
I have nothing

But

All I have to offer you
is everything I am

A future
of loyal
love

I will never
break your
heart

And

I will continue
to love you more
than anyone
ever has

We will make
unforgettable
memories

And

Our son
will grow
into a
good
man

With you
as his example

And

I could not
be more proud
of the good husband
and father that you are

I once lived
a lonely life
of solitude
longing
for love

And when you
found me my heart
was in the stage of giving up

So from the first
moment I met you
I knew you were the one

How did I know

You see my heart told me so

And even though
it was not all I had pictured

It was so much more
when you finally
accepted
love

You've made me smile

You've made me cry

But most of all
you've made me happy

And

Even though
I have no
gift to give

I offer you this ...

beautiful, I'm beyond moved to tears. This is truly amazing and I can't help but wonder all the deeper feelings that must have been released when you wrote this. What a beautiful release and creation. If I could hug you (in a non creepy way of course ^-^ ) I for sure would. Amazing and heartfelt.

Wow. That's so beautiful it brought this sentimental old man to the brink of tears. "No gift" you say but then offer the greatest gift the world has ever known...love. Truly beautiful.

I believe this is the best gift you could have given to him for his birthday. In love, material possessions are just trinkets, its the feeling and respect behind the best gifts that money cannot buy! Beautiful!

I'm deeply touched. You've tapped into some of the sentiments I feel for my husband and the loneliness before we found each other.

Thank you Jennie that means a lot to me.
This is a sweet poem that you have written and I can only hope that it is received in the same manner that each one of us that is reading it in your audience is reading it, with love in abundance!
