In Whispering Forests

In Whispering Forests

A Poem by Samantha ~virginpoet

She walks in shadows
beneath the mourning moon
whispering secrets of below

As the candles flicker in the gloom

Impatiently I wait
to again hear her voice

Those wicked tales beyond the gate
Of spirits dangerous and coy

Tragic love songs of obsession
as the needle threads its way through
tapestries of doom

Foretold in nights of submission
in whispering forests
fallen leaves cover
the tomb

Like a wraith in the night
her words still visit me

Hallucinations in goblets
her words carry on
shivering trees

Insanity awaits

In tales of such grandeur
made from nightmares she will create
spin me a yarn of such danger

The tell-tale hearts of damnation
pounding under floors
of deep seated
anguishing
gloom

For me there
is no salvation
as I set ablaze
another wick
to read of
doom

Certainly haunting, I like the entire atmosphere of trepidation and fear of this poem and, what I like most, is the unending rhythm of this piece with the most precise pauses. I read it aloud and it sounded so haunting and went along so well to the terror emotion invoked by your poem. Well done, Samantha, keep it up!

I love how you bring about the familiar feel with the shroud of mystery and unease. Wonderful work as always!

This makes me feel like someone has given themselves to a witch, a beguiler, a treacherous woman, or damn, a really good book ... well done.

A amazing poem. The description took me on a sad journey to try to know peace.
"The tell-tale hearts of damnation

Haunting words and face leave us alone and needy. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

Wow. This brought a shiver up my spine at the end. Lost love, how we still wait for it and long to feel it once again.
