Frayed edges
pulled apart
silent beating
of love’s heart

Read what it beats
into the night
wrap your soul
in my words

Because
I spend most nights
tossing and turning
under a mountain of thoughts
wondering if you actually
understand me

Wondering
if you actually
love me

I almost
lost it today
rage building
thoughts screaming
bite my tongue
and clench
my teeth
self-control
holding back
acidic words
meant to burn
your heart
as I set fire
to your chest

My words have
weighed me down
like sunken ships
in the pacific
but never again
will I let them sit
in the pit of my belly
