Depression

Darkness is the absence of light
but we humans can be surrounded
by the brightest light
but be too blind
to open our eyes to it
thus living a life
of perpetual
darkness

im not sure about it being a complete poem, it feels more like the first part of something deeper. Maybe some hope in later lines? or maybe not...IT IS titled Depression. I think this is a possible kind of depression, but not one that I chose, but it is still relate-able. I hope you keep your head up if you are ever depressed because in my opinion, no matter the situation there is always hope, in this situation it could be someone to help the blind see.

I agree it dont feel completely done, I wrote this with a time in my life in mind I went through a deep depression as a child it was like I could not see past my pain like I had blinders on I could not see past the darkness that was engulfing me but somehow I pulled myself up out of the darkness and back into life

"but be too blind" this line I think is the only thing that could be changed with regards to making your poetic point more clear. One usually, isn't too 'blind' to open their eyes, but perhaps 'weak' or 'pressured', 'pained' or 'sick' even. All suggestions aside, this is still a valid point and one that will be widely understood. Even by Saul himself.

ummm..darkness is the absence of colour...creation is the presence of light....if not surrounded by light ..we are non-created beings....?IMHO

I think this piece is excellent. One of your best works, honestly. Yes, I agree, something more could be added to it, but knowing that you show your true talent in short poems, I suggest not to push it if you don't feel inspired for it. It's amazing as it is. Great job! :)

I feel this piece cautions one not to get confused by the brightness(Literal meaning) which leads to bedazzlement and the true brightness( That is attainment of true knowledge, developing an ability to instinctively differentiate between lies and truth, fake and real) which leads to wisdom.
