and sometimes the lack of subtlety quietly bashes us over the head...lol
bukowski, such an abuser---there have been so many great writers who have not needed to treat people like he did in order to get inspiration...but then, yes, he does have his following...
so did rimbaud---although as despicable as he was a human being..his writing is beautiful...
go figure.

"Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. That is why we get a heartache when we read those lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty. Every man, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths.

the honesty draws me back and I find it endlessly inspiring
To me at least Bukowski was the best the straight truth in verse and i always love that straight ahead no bullshit sense of writting.
It takes a true backbone to say whatever the hell ya think my friend cheers and keep posting
Hahah straight to the point, I like Bukowski work, He says be honest and go after it
And so you honestly do it and not only did you achieve what he wanted to achieve with the piece but you achieved in creating art.
"Bites lip" Good job :D

at the risk of sounding base, that is maybe the most brutally honest thing i've ever read. the kind of thing you only admit or tell someone outside of your own head when you've been drinking too much. wow. this, this is kinda fantastic.
and plus 100 for Bukowski quote. he loved honest poetry.
