and sometimes the lack of subtlety quietly bashes us over the head...lol
bukowski, such an abuser---there have been so many great writers who have not needed to treat people like he did in order to get inspiration...but then, yes, he does have his following...
so did rimbaud---although as despicable as he was a human being..his writing is beautiful...
go figure.

"Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. That is why we get a heartache when we read those lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty. Every man, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths.

I'm interested as to why you asked me/us to review this poem after a couple of months- why does it draw you back?

the honesty draws me back and I find it endlessly inspiring
Wow. Ahem, I'm sure your husband finds this piece to be a fun little delight haha. Short, sweet and to the point. I'm sure Bukowski would approve. My personal favorite by him is "I don't like jails; they have the wrong kind of bars there."
Excellent! This is wonderful! and i'm so happy you found Love! I want to chat more but I'm under pressure and I'm my own worlds Savior so ttfn until we can sit back and savor the things we enjoy.
I like Bukowski's writing Samantha and I had to come here when I saw your poem in the wee window that promotes new writing. I would love to die making love and funnily enough I have thought my heart would stop a few times in the act. But thats just me being unfit. ;)
Any friend of Bukowski is a friend of mine (or is that friend of ours) lol.
Sweet...(in Belfast that means 'great')
An interesting take on what you desire the most can kill you if over indulgence is a problem. An interesting diagnosis from a profound quote by Bukowski. Nice write. :)
Wow. That came from out of no where and smacked me across the face. I was honestly expecting something philosophical, and instead got hot with that! Wonderful job, and definitely very powerful and erotic. Great work as always, Sam.
