Cold Romantics
As the carol softly plays
Through the ageless winter days
And the frozen, frigid nights,
When we stare out from the heights;
From that mountaintop we gaze
Through the misty, icy haze
At the moon and sun which fly
Through the ever-changing sky
Where light from north and south will shine
Forevermore, both yours and mine
Crazy Folk
I stand with you, rain falling down
in the center of this country town
and all the while, our bodies soak
'Look at them, just crazy folk.'
I hold you close to keep you warm.
You smile at me; your face so calm
amidst the pouring, drenching rain,
and ask if we can meet again.
The tears of skies so overcast
are like the people going past;
they don't care just who we are.
I slowly lead you to your car.
Away for now you have to go
back to that jailcell of a home.
But you whisper soft to me
'My home is where your heart will be.'
'With you alone will my heart stay,
forever more, and every day.
I'll love you always, ever more,
you'll be the one that I live for.'
You smile at these few tender words
then wipe your eyes; 'the parting hurts.'
I kiss you gently on your brow.
'Goodbye my love, only for now.'
Your lips form a quiet phrase
'Your's until the end of days.'
My mouth echoes in reply,
'Far beyond the day I die.'
Our hearts are one as you drive off.
In winter cold I softly cough
back home now I too must go;
the rain has slowly turned to snow.
A soft white powder falling down
blanketing this country town
so my fiery heart I stoke;
both of us are crazy folk.
The last one here is about how, ironically, I met my first love under the same circumstances.
Winter World
That Winter World,
that starry sky...
so far away...
so far behind...
and yet, right here.
What was not there,
what was not real...
with you, it's true.
With you, I feel
a soft face I couldn't touch
and softer lips I could not taste.
The comfort and warmth;
the ice and the cold...
two beautiful girls,
two wintry worlds,
two seperate weeks,
two different stories...
One epilogue.
You can't have everything...
And yet...
In memories
I have it all.
