Not Just Thrown Away

Can a life be thrown away?
Bought and sold, up on display?
Given by it's owners choice,
his blood speaks louder than his voice.

With bayonet, bullets, knife,
a man severed from his wife;
Maybe he'll return one day,
or will they say he's thrown away?

If he saves one meager life,
he can return to his wife
feeling like they heard his voice
by silencing the Devil's noise.

He fights for his God and land;
humankind he helps defend.
Many men have gone away,
but their lives aren't just thrown away.
