The GameA Poem by ViperThis is based on a real experience in my life. It involves the dangers of drinking alcohol. The Game It was one night that I decided to drink Little did I know that my life would be on the brink Quarters was the name of the game My life that night would never be the same It started out as harmless fun But it wasn’t by the time we were done Bounce the quarter miss the glass you take a shot After a while you start feeling hot I don’t remember how many I had I don’t remember even feeling bad Last thing I remember is sitting in a chair Next thing I know I wake up incoherent and impaired I wake up on my back in a hospital bed The doctors telling me I should be dead My dad and brother had to pump my chest and give me cpr They did this numerous times to restart my heart The doctors ran tubes up my nose and hooked me up to an iv From what I was told it wasn’t a pleasant sight to see The whole time they were running the tubes they said I would shout They had to run the tubes to get the alcohol out The next moment I woke I was at home in my bed With my chest hurting and a pounding in my head My throat was sore and it was hard for me to talk My legs were weak and it was all I could do to walk They said I quit breathing three times that night I should be dead now by all rights That’s what happens when you play the game If you decide to play Be forewarned your life may never be the same © 2010 Viper |
