You're My Best Kept Secret

You're My Best Kept Secret

A Poem by Eden

Hide away beneath the grey

No one will know what no one can see

And this is the touch of what should be lust

But there’s more defined lines to our art then we can trust

Reaching out like you don’t exist

I’ll keep you here, resting at arms length

A ghost in the shadows behind these walls

A shaking feeling I can’t brush off

Are you feeling what you feel to me

It’s take cover in light but we can still see

There’s always a cloud that follows us here

I don’t know how long before the storm clears

You’re promising more than I know to accept

And maybe some thing are better left and kept

Tucked away, lock and key,

But not you, not you and me

If my skin chills along with breeze

And the critics cry and beg and plead

Will you be there with me

Too much to think and I think I need sleep

But these thoughts they lose sight and cant see

I never forget but they forget me

Just hold on, won’t let go

Maybe its a mistake or maybe it’s gold

But nothing lasts when examining facts

Maybe acceptance is our best bet

But you’re worth the secrets kept

Hold on, hold on, this isn’t over yet.

So relevant to me and I absolutely adore the rhythm and rhyming of this piece. Could not have asked for a better ending either. Excellent.
