Patheticism

Patheticism

A Poem by Eden

i want you
but i'm slowly seeing
that i'll never get to see that through
and these, these hands they tire
from waiting, holding the phone for you

tick tock
and the clock won't stop
but i want, i need it to
look around wondering, "where are you?"
cause my heart speeds up when you're around
but the clock only winds up to let me down

i know i know
you want all the pretty boys to take you home
sha sha shaking from the mistakes you are making
and i watched you pour in from the tide
and i picked you up, i think i said you we're okay
i think i lied
but i guess it's all the same

I carried you across the sand
so your feet wouldn't get dirty as you held on to my hand
cause i always had this sick want to take care of you
but you'd let me cause you always knew (you always knew)

i can't sit still
and this is how it feels
when the one you love always disappears
and now i refuse to be the backbone
to someone else's mistake
take what you can get and get what you can take

my heads to the wall
and something keeps telling me you're not gonna call
i may be the one who's pathetic
but i took what you said, sue me cause i thought you meant it
and i pace the floor tearing my brain
trying to remember what you felt like, trying but i'm going insane
and you are what i love you for
but isn't it enough for you?
my backs sealed to the floor
and may i say i loved you more

i sat you at the oceans end
you stared at me like you lost your best friend
and i cried because i knew the waves were coming
to take you away, to take you away
to a place where i can't follow you anymore,
this is the last day, this is the last day
and when you find whatever it is you were looking for
the tide will bring you back my way, the tide will bring you back my way
so when you drift to sea i think i'll go on home
and lay in bed and rest my weary head all alone
and pray to god that he'll take you where you too can find home
where you can rest your broken body and heal all your sores
now is it safe to say, i think i loved you more
