write about not writing

A Poem by Danielle Asher

Write about not writing

He told me when I spoke of being at a loss for words

Sing without a key

I thought to myself

searching for a tone unheard of before

Dance without body

As my limbs hit the ground in stillness

Breathe without heart beating

Frozen in a moment to acknowledging my surroundings

Question and love

With a side of forgiveness

And trust

These are the things we say

Until we believe in something

Something beyond what we are and what we were

Embrace what is before me

Me

I am before the world

My words will find form again
