dear someoneA Poem by Danielle Asherday twenty-one, in the fifth month, in the year two thousand ten Dear Someone, I have to admit, that
seeing the film “Letters to Juliet” on your birthday was not only ironic, but
arduous. I did not pick up on the matter until I learned the plot of the movie.
The main themes: Lost love, timing, destiny, true love is always true, never
too late or too old, the knowing that comes from looking into “the” person’s
eyes, and lastly fighting all odds for “something.” Every now and again I have
little setbacks, though we are in another place that we have both agreed to. Sometimes, the twinge of doubt that I push
down jars me. It shakes me into the fear that comes with the lack of access to
your heart. I fear that I will no longer be the last pair of eyes you call for.
I know that like time, this feeling will pass by again, and I will be thankful
for what we maintain. There is a part in the
film where they speak of the words “what” and “if” and how separately they have
quite a different impact then when combined. “What if?” The phrase is
like dynamite waiting to blast. I choose to focus on
being your friend rather than the nonsense of what is written above. Because it
is nonsense now isn’t it? Love, A woman who used to refer to herself as your
