Tori got into the car wondering how she gets herself into these predicaments. How many times has she found herself looking into the eyes of a married man? Tori recalled all the times she heard people talk about murder. Once you kill, it is hard to go back because that feeling of power is always in you. Well , she felt the same way about cheating. She did not necessarily feel a sense of power, but the sense of choice. The feeling that he could not resist her even though he knew he should. Unavailable men were the ones she always wanted most, and this situation was no different.
There she was driving back with him to her car. They had gone out for a few drinks with some of their co-workers so at the beginning of the night she felt that it was innocent enough. After a few drinks and a salsa dance at the bar she felt the way he stared at her and sensed the night could take a desireful and yet inappropriate twist. Needing a ride back to her car they found themselves alone again.
He pulled down the block by the office where her car was parked under a large tree still dripping from the downpour that fell to earth a few moments before they split up from their coworkers. He pulled up behind her car and got out to walk her to the door. They began to hug good-bye seeming innocent enough but when the embrace did not release she felt herself begin to tense. Exhilaration surged through her as she wondered if tonight they would break through the barrier between right and wrong. So far they had agreed for the sake of everyone they would just be friends. Now here they were, her and the man who claims to be happily married. As Tori begin to pull out of the hold he had on her, their eyes lock, water still dripping from the trees. He slides his hands to the top of her arms while holding his glare and pushes her up against the wet car, slowly falling toward her pressing his lean, long body against her. She felt the rainwater on her back seeping through her blouse. His hand slid up to her face as if he was going to kiss her but instead reached behind and grabbed gently but forcefully a fistful of her long hair. He pulled it just hard enough and she liked the power he asserted. Tori let out a low sensual growl and he interpreted that as her acceptance for him to again move in close to her face. His lips gently met her mouth still holding her stare. He hastily shifted over to her neck so she would be teased with what could be. He grazed her neck with his soft lips and followed moving downward toward the hollow below her neck. Once again he lingering breathing gently, sensually. Nearing her eye level once again he leaned slightly deeper into her then surrendering his body against her. She felt him hard against her jeans that were already wet from the rain and her excitement. He began to move with the rhythm of the rainfall, their breath gaining speed, strength. Their lips touch but never do they kiss. Tori was electrified and though feeling provoked to take him right there she hated herself for being in this circumstance again. She felt herself coming down back into the reality that he has a wife. The more she got into her head the more she began to gain control. They still were entangled against the sopping car. Enticing as he made himself to be she realized she did not like where she was allowing this to go. She pushed him away in one abrupt movement. “What is wrong” he asked? “This is all for you,” she said. “I am a single woman with no barriers. I can take you home right now, hell I can have you here against my car. You will tease me and leave. Going back to your wife, going back to pretend that we are friends. You have the right to be confused, you have the right to be angry, you have the right to enjoy this, and then you go back to your life to think about what a s**t you are. I am just stupid for being in this position again!” Trying to explain how it is not true the more he spoke the more she realized how true what she said was. “Tori, if it was a different time we would be together.” She cringed at hearing the words. They wouldn’t be friends at the end of the day; she would have nothing, not even an affair. Tori heard him out but he did not impress her with his banter no matter how close they had become. Defeated by her heart and her own rationale they hugged one last time. Though they lingered it was different then before. They both knew this would be the last time they were alone. “See you at the staff meeting,” she said as she went to get into her car. In her rearview mirror she saw him get into his car and drive away. © 2008 Danielle Asher |
