Once again Katie finds herself driving and driving herself crazy. Shed was coming from  saying goodbye  to the man she has been seeing. It was not the easiest thing to do though she has known for weeks now that it had to end. He claims to love her in the short time they have been seeing one another, but he is committed to his work in a way that leaves her always wondering when she will see him again.

And then she remembered someone from her past. Someone she used to love, someone she believed she belonged with. Just a few weeks earlier at work they had a quick instant message that he sent as a way to say Hello. The hello turning into a quick catch up conversation, she found out he wanted her to know his manipulative lying girlfriend finally moved out. Katie thought back to why he called her by his nickname for her and made sure to let her know him and Sharon were over.

She hit traffic coming back from the city. Reaching for the radio she hoped for a sign. Taking her pointer finger and reaching over to the scan button counting to 3 before she would release it for her answer. Flipping through the stations, song after song, not one reflected their story. It was something she did often to try and help make a decision as if the radio could control her fate.  But with each unmatching tune her thoughts went deeper and deeper into time they had spent together. Katie asked herself again if they would ever have their time. They had joked once about being 40 and divorced before they would come together. It did not seem so funny the later and later they trailed into their thirties.

Typically in their relationship she needed to make the move. She picked up her Blackberry and dialed his number. It was still under her nickname for him in the speed dial. She anticipated the sound of his voice with every ring. She wondered if he was with Sharon, the guys, his family. Finally a muffled voice message picked up. Calling herself by her nickname he gave her, she said who it was calling. “On a whim I figured I would see if you want to grab a drink tonight?”

Katie hung up the phone and continued to flip the radio stations for something.
