Leaving you to the bookshelves of the LibraryA Poem by Danielle Asherjust learning to let go
Go back in time
Leaving you to the bookshelves of the library
See me sitting alone in the car reflected by the light of the neon sign
Drinking coffee and writing alone in the dark café
Walking the fields unaccompanied admiring the strength of the trees
Enjoying my solo photo shoot by the lake
Table for one in a small Italian restaurant
A playground build for one small child as the towers fall and the smoke bellows comforting only myself
A concert where the Girls played a performance in my name
My dad passed and I found support in my solidarity
After my rape I cried myself to sleep forlorn
Chance after chance finding only a cipher
I walk the rows of books at the library looking for someone I used to know
They are empty now
